Why the hell do I keep eating up frt wheel bearings?

Suspensions is stock except for a rear sway.

First set died at 35k. Frt RH bearing is starting to die now again at 65k.
Any thoughts? Is this common on Evo IXs?

Mine wore the FR, took it to Mitsu, they changed it and said my left on was bad too and to come back and they would change it. I came back and now they are saying it's NOT my wheel bearing, they say my tires are "cupped", I've never seen cupped tires and mine look mint. Free bump.

Are you running aggressive offset wheels by chance?

Low offset wheels and big spacers are the usual suspects with decreased life WB.

Not properly installing and removing your wheel studs could potentially be fatal to your bearings; hard hitting on the studs with a hammer can damage the bearing.

Improper installation may also be a factor. The spindle nut must be tight before the any load is applied on the wheel bearing.

I did have a friend autoxing an evo9 who had a wheel bearing die early on him. Probably similar mileage to yours. Perhaps it was a bad lot during production. They really aren't too hard to replace nor are they terribly expensive. In the $160-$170 range right now.

I recently had a drivetrain issue that I thought was a bad wheel bearing. Now I have a spare.

What is the sound you hear when you have a wheel bearing going bad? I've had a "popping" sound that comes from the front right of my Evo IX when taking off in first gear after coming to a stop. I've done figure eights in parking lots to the left and right and there is no popping at all (like if the diffs were going or the axle was bad). It only occurs when either at a stop or very slow speeds and I'm letting the clutch out in first gear, it's like a " pop-pop-pop" just for a second as I'm disengaging the clutch. Don't feel anything in the clutch or steering wheel when it's happening, just a noise from the front right.

I'm also interested in what you're hearing. I'm getting a wobble (almost sounds tire) that is intensified in both corners.... high speed corners (40+). I've also been hearing a pop as well. I'm hoping they are related.

Whats the part number for the bearing. And isnt it a bear/hub combo?

I am about to take off the front corners to do a clutch job (x2). We found all the bolts stuck, but I am pretty sure a bearing if toast too.
