GoodYear F1 GS-D3
Well, the Advans have just about had it at 15k miles, so I went ahead and ordered the GS-D3s. After reading around a bit, they seem like they have a little more to offer than the Dunlops, Falkens, or Toyos. They weren't much cheaper than the Advans (only by ~$200), but I'm hoping to get 25k-30k out of them which will mean they actually cost me about half as much as the Advans.
Once I get them put on this Wednesday, I'll give some feedback on grip, tramlining, noise, etc. Wear of course will be determined in time.
I went with the 235s, but I'm interested in hearing people's experiences with the 245s. I hear the additional rubber/contact patch is offset by somewhat squishier sidewalls. Anybody have any input on that?

I really love the tred pattern of the good year eagle F1 tire. I am 95% sure that when I need new tires in the future that these will be my replacements. As of now I only have 4500mi on the EVO and looks like I still have more than half the tred left. Looking forward to hearing your feedback on the tires when you get them. Also if you could take some pictures of them on your car once installed that would be great. Esp if you can get them from different angles so we can see how they fit the stock rims.

For overall tread wear, ride comforts, wet/dry traction, steering resp, etc. those are the top 4. I would throw the Yokohama AVS Sport in there if it wasn't for the Pirelli. In all honesty, we have not tested the Advans. Because this tire is produced primairly in this size for this car, we really can't compare it to the rest. They are without a doubt an excellent dry grip and steering response tire. However, they do lack in some other areas where differ tires excel.

FYI here is a comparison screen shot of those 3 tires. From the results, I believe the Good Years are the best bang for the buck. 20+ dollars cheaper per tire than the others, higher treadwear rating than the others and is best in overall traction.

When most people switched to S0-3's from S0-2's on their S2000's they were all pissed off.... the S0-3's just don't have the grip of the original tires...... they may be an better "overall" tire, but most people who buy performance cars want the better performance tire....screw the 25k miles out of a set of tires idea!

Those Goodyears look a lot like the Toyo T1s! Guess Toyo must know what they are doing eh? I have a friend that has the new Goodyears on his slammed S10 and he loves them saying that they work great in dry and wet conditions!!
I have run Pilot Sports on a couple of cars, and although I liked them, I found the Toyo T1S to handle as well if not better, look better(in my opinion only perhaps), and wear better than the Pilot Sports for less money. Oh, almost forgot, they are also a very light tire to boot!
I know that Neal can't include the Toyo T1S in his list because Tire Rack doesn't sell them. They are excellent tires though and worthy of a second look, and will undoubtedly find there way onto my Evo next spring.

I was at Goodyears tech center working as an Engineering intern the last two summers while they were developig this tire. Suffice to say they poured some serious development time in on these tires. It was a very dedicated project. I know the european magazine EVO did a tire comparison a while back and the Goodyears won outright. I think anyone choosing these tirs will be happy with performance and thrilled with their longevity. Keep us updated.

Well it sounds like the GS-D3 will be a decent replacement for the Advans. While I will know soon enough (they get mounted tomorrow), I was curious if anybody is familiar with the tire's characteristics.
I had heard that the S03s tend to grip to the limit and then break loose without much warning. The Advans were very predictable and let me know when I was pushing to hard. Anybody here have a chance to run on them? I'll ease into them of course, but a heads up would be nice

Looking forward to hearing your impressions about these good years.

I have to disagree and say that the top three tires in this class are 1. Toyo Proxes T1-S 2. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 and 3. Bridgestone Potenza S-02. A fourth would be the Michelin Pilot Sport. I say that about the Pilot because it offers no more than any of the other tires and costs more.
