I like Ate Super Blue or Typ 200 (Same stuff, different color). The two colors allow you to alternate fluids and tell when you have a complete flush.

Much higher dry and wet temps than stock, much less hydroscopic then many other "race" fluids. (It absorbs water less quckly)

Castrol SRF is considered by many to be the "best" true race fluid, but it is rather expensive - like $70 a bottle!

Another option is to use Ford heavy duty brake fluid. It's available from Ford dealerships. I don't remember exactly how it is labelled, but the key thing is to look for the 550F dry boiling point on the container. It is cheaper than Motul, etc. - something like $6 per pint. I've been using this for about 4 years, first in my DSM, now in the Evo.

ATE Super Blue is the BEST for Street Duty and some track.

Its even beats the Ford heavy duty.

Motul is only good for TRACK use unless you like changing it all the time. Being a synthetic dot 5.

It sucks water like a ****. so if you use it for the street you should look at reaplcing it every 3 months.

ATE Super Blue has never let me down on the street or track. I first tried the Ford HD and I had bad fading problems in my 2G Eclipse at a track event. I tried ATE the next event and the brakes were flawless. Its all I use now...

ATE Super Blue is the only fluid to use. I use it in my road race and rally cars.

I used all the mentioned fuids (not in EVO, but other car).
Mutul RBF 600 is my 1st choice. Holds up very well at the track. You will have to change it once a year though. Since I have to flush and bleed before every track event, this is not a problem for me. It is more expensive, usually $12-14 a bottle + shipping. Motul 600 is NOT DOT-5 by the way.... Most DOT-5's are not compatible with current producion brake systems.

ATE super Blue is my seond choice. Ok for track use as well, but if you are really hard on the brakes, you may boil it. 1/2 the price of Motul. Can keep in in there for 2 years or so. Great for street.

Also used some cheap Catrol SRF I think stuff that you can buy alomost anywhere when I had no ATE or Motul. I did not have the guts to use it at the track, so I use it as "get home" fluid but swap out to ATE or Motul rather quickly.

I'll probably use ATE for my EVO as I do not plan to track it at this time (at least while I have my warranty).

Two cents worth:

Motul is not DOT 5, and you don't want to use DOT 5 in a street car.

Castrol SRF is exclusively what I would recommend if one does more than few track days as it has the highest wet boiling point of all fluids.

To see a comparison of fluids and for general information on brakes follow the link to the discussion on other message boards please:

SRF *is* the best *RACE* fluid, but it is extremely hydroscopic, meaning it absorbs water quickly. It is designed to be flushed frequently, a somewhat expensive proposition at $70/liter. If you plan on leaving fluid in your street car for 6 months or longer, there are better choices.
