Subframe help please

hey guys wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before.
If so wondering what you did to correct it.

I'm trying to remove my subframe and the two front nuts which hold it in place which are attached to the threads which go into the body of the car seem to have broken off and now just spin in place.

I suppose I could always cut the nut off but I'm wondering what to do when it comes time to reinstall.

I've attached a clip and some pics to better describe what I'm talking about.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Plasma cutter and a welder would be my suggestion, but I'm the kinda guy that puts the cut in custom! LOL

When that bolt has no torque on it, it is loose but cannot spin. My guess is that the head is square or rectangular and drops into the unibody, the unibody around it keeps it from spinning.

Sounds like you may have deformed the unibody or the the bolt head and thats why it's spinning.

Have you tried using an impact gun on it?

yea thats what I think messed something up.
I think i'm going to torch the nut and see if she'll come off.

Like I said though, getting a new nut on and torquing that down will be the problem.

Anyone know what spec thats torqued to anyway?

123 ftlbs iirc. I took mine off last weekend. One of my bolts was loose and would spin around after I took it off. It tightened back up though. I took the nut off and put it back on with an impact.

The bolt head is welded inside the frame, if your break it free like you did, then the frame needs to be cut open. It's a pain, I had to do it on my car.

You have no choice but to cut and reweld, any reputable shop should be able to help you.

Maybe that explains the slight vibration I have in the steering wheel. Any body else concur? I thought the bolt being loose was normal.

well got it out, you can actually look in a see the dam thing spinning.
ended up wedging something in there to prevent it from spinning while the impact took the nut off.

I think I should be fine once I tighten it back down snug, hopefully it catches and stops the bolt from spinning so I can torque it down.

Mind explaining how/where you wedged it?

sorry I didn't reply sooner.... just caught this now.

anyway I cut a slit in the front of the section and peeled it down.
Jammed a flat head screw driver in there as hard as I could to keep what was left of the bolt head front spinning.

Turned the impact gun on full blast, soaked the nut with liquid wrench, heated the nut with a blow torch... bam came off like a champ.. but man was it a pain.

Once I torque everything back down I'm going to open that section right up and weld the bolt head back into place.

Hope that helped
