Best rim and tire combo for road racing?

Best rim and tire combo for road racing?
Hey what do you guys think is the best wheel for road racing...size, offset etc...that will yield NO rubbing. As for tires I was looking at the Toyo R88 because I have heard good things but does anyone else have any other opinons on different rubber,,

How much experience do you have road racing?
Only ask because the Evo is a great car. But it masks a lot of driver errors once on slicks. Gives the driver false feedback on what the car can really do. Basically, makes bad moves look ok.
I have been using the OE rims and Z1 Star Specs for AX/tracking.
But lighter is good. 18x9.5 and 275 series tires = lots of grip. And the R888s are on my short list for next seasons tires. After 3 years of tracking/AX I am moving into slicks/r-comps.

Learn the car first drive it on street tires like the stock advans, neovas, dunlop & re01's for a while, it helps make you smooth, and makes you stay on the ideal line, smooth is fast...
then progress from there...

I've been using stock size toyo ra1's on my stock BBS and all seasons on my street wheels. I do suggest you get some experience with other tires before you move to r comps. I used my stock Advan's for 3-4 road races and then I swtiched. (well, needed to change )
I absolutely love my 235's. People suggest that I can go wider, but why would I when I am just learning to use all of the rubber? I am going to go wider next season now I am getting a bit more aggressive.
stick to 17's on road racing. I don't see any merit on using 18's at the track for our cars...

18" is necessary if you plan on upping your brakes. A lot of 6pot calipers leave paper thin gap with 17" wheels, and you can't fit rotors that are bigger than 340mm.
As for wheels the popular size for road racing seems to be 17x9, 18x9.5 to 10.5 on CT9A evo's. I would get any of the following:
Volk Racing CE28N
Buddy Club P1 QF
Racing Hart CP-035R discontinued but if you can find a good used one with correct size and offset, its a great wheel
All three above are forged aluminum, decently strong and amongst the lightest production wheels for each size. It will cost anywhere between 400 to 600 a wheel depending on size and the shop you get them from if you are getting 17" or 18". If you want even better, you would have to get some crazy custom wheels or rare magnesium alloy wheels.

Hmm I was only gonna list out the real forged ones since the OP wanted the 'best', but still not getting into magnesium alloy territory.
But yes the Enkei, Weds 105 are great cast wheels that weigh almost as light as the above three (within 1lb per wheel difference in 17" and 18" form) and as mentioned, the price, they only cost about half of the listed three wheels. There is also the SSR C which is semi forged. I don't want to spread any false information but from rumors I was told that Enkei and Weds are very strong even they are casted, but the SSR cracks a lot. The SSR is pretty cheap as well.
