Blizzak WS-50's Brand New for $98.00 a piece

I can get these tires for $98.00 a piece, but only in 245/45/17 for the stock rim.....should I get them or will the 245 width defeat the purpose...

The other tire I am looking at is the Blizzak LM-22 for 151.00 a tire in 235/45/17

Thanks!

Nothing plows thru the snow like those WS-50's, but your Evo will drive like a 4x4 truck, in any other condition. Plus, the treads will wear down fast. I'd stick with a high-performance snow tire(unless you're in the mountains or something), for the best of both worlds.

Very good advice number8. Think of the conditions you spend most of the time driving in. If it is pure fresh fluffy snow get the ws-50's, but if you drive mainly on plowed & dry roads and have slush + salt conditions with only one handful of pure snow driving days, there are better choices out there. Ice tires are not bad for those that drive a lot on salted roads where the slush freezes up again....

well we see maybe a weeks worth of snow days. But when it does snow I dont want to be stranded. I am just trying to get the best bang for the buck.

What other tires would you guys use?

I am not really concerned with performance, as I just drive to and from work. Thus the reason I am running a dedicated snow tire.

for an extra $200 on the lm-22's...is it worth it? If it is I will buy them.

Or maybe a different tire altogether like the Dunlop Graspic DS-2????

f it....ordered the ws-50s...im gonna be plowing though the snow this year...lol.

For the price, I couldnt beat it for 200 less. I dont drive spirited at all, unless a straight line...so im not worried about cornering stability with the softer ws-50..

Thanks for everyones input.

you made a good choice. I'm on my 4th winter now with the Blizzack WS-50 snow tires on the EVO and still love them. Makes the EVO a tank in any amount of snow!!!

I ran some 'performance' snow tires for the first winter I had the EVO, never again, its all or nothing. I'd rather have an overkill snow tire like the WS-50 and be safe in all conditions then run around with a "performance" snow tire and only be able to drive safely in certain conditions.

Exactly my thinking. And some people wonder why I bothered to put 16's on my car and that "I don't need it".
