Enkei RPF1 offset 30 or 35

Going to purchase RPF1, want 17x9 the offset is 35, the 17x8.5 have a 30 offset. What set would be flusher with the fender? Searched on fitment threads to try and compare but only found pics of 8.5 in the 17s.

i am picking up the same set of wheels from tirerack.com, they usually recommend the best offset and sizing for your specific vehicle and for the evo it shows the 17x8 +35 of 17x8.5 +30 to be the best fit. i would like to know also so that i can make a more sound judgment before i spend the money.

Going to sit on the car pretty much the same way. The 9's are a half inch wider (half inch in/half inch out), but the 5mm offset diff on the 8" will help compensate for the difference in width.

Ditto on the thanks Neil, figured they might be close. I read the 8.5 fit with no spacers or rolling, how about the 9. Have s set of Toyo RA1 255/40/17 I want to mount so I really want the 9's, will there be any fitment issues?

Thanks guys

Since it's a fit we normally don't use I'm going to lean toward you prob having to do fender mods. Many of the 9" wheels we carry for that car require a fender mod to fit properly. That tire size should be fine but it's where the wheel is going to place it thats the issue. I'd expect the worst and be happy if you don't need mods.

None of the 18x8.5's 35mm offset running a 255/35-18 we carry require a spacer or fender mods. 265's you may run into trouble.

Im not too sure about the rolling of the fenders but im almost certain that you might have to at least run a spacer in the front to fit, BUT do not quote me on this as i am not 100% positive on this, i know tirerack recommends 18x8.5 in a +30 offset which fits with no spacers and no rolling but im not too sure about a +38. maybe neal can chime in on this one

thanks neal for the answer. Im trying to find a aggressive offset and tire combination on the Enkei nt03's for my evo 9 with bilstein struts and swift springs without needing to roll fenders or spacers.

I am confused, I run 17 X 8.5 with 245/45/17, it seems to be fine and occasionally rub. I will lower the car with GT Worx springs soon, but I always thought spacers make the wheel go out more not in, so how does that help in not rubbing? need a little education here.

17 x 8.5 with 30mm will sit out more than 17 x 8 with 35mm by about 12mm, Am I right?
half inch wider rim is 1/4 inch each side, so that is about 6.5mm, plus the offset 30 sticks out another 5mm. total is around 12mm. if my calculation is right , how is 15mm spacer that will make the wheel sit out even more going to help in the situation?

Your calculations are correct regarding the width but it depends on where the rubbing is occurring. If you're rubbing on the inside of the fender liner or on the strut then spacers will help get rid of the rubbing, and if your tires are rubbing the outer fender lip then spacers will only make it worse.

I've personally run 17x8.5 +30 with 255/40's with and without 15mm spacers and had no rubbing either way. I think the only reaso you may be rubbing is because the 245/45 is taller than the stock 235/45 whereas the 255/40 is shorter.

I ran 17x8.5 RPF1's with 245/45/17's and it was a good set-up. Then I put on 25mm H&R spacers on the front but not the back and it transformed the car. On the track the car became so balanced and controllable. And I had zero rubbing problems.

But I couldn't leave well enough alone and I got some 18x9.5 Enkei NT03's with 275/40/18's. The car looked awesome, but I had pretty severe rubbing. I rolled the fenders but it didn't help much (not easy w.aluminum fenders!). And I could never get it to come close to handling as well as with the RPF1's - too much understeer. I could actually feel a decrease in acceleration due to the heavier setup

Well, i sold my car with the NT03's. If anyone is interested in the RPF1's with good R888 scrubs mounted I'll post them for sale in Marketplace pretty soon (as soon as I hit the 50 post minimum!)
