No. The /40 means the sidewall is 40% of the tread width, so a 235/40 has a 235*.4 = 94 mm tall sidewall and a 265/40 has a 265*.4 = 106 mm tall sidewall. The OD of the 265 is just over 2 cm larger than the 235.

Good info! Thanks. One last question, then I'm done thread jacking, although the OP could possibly use this info as well; Does tread depth also have to be taken into account? In other words, could one manufacturers 265/40 have a larger or smaller OD than another manufacturers?

Do as GT says, wider wheels up front, 265's all around. There have been many evo tuners who use this idea in JP, such as Bozz Speed, ect.

P.S. Do you have the Black GTR or are you one of the guys with a GTS-T

thanks, and I have one of the gts-t's, a green one.

here is a pic of the wheels.....

Yes, it can make a difference. If one tire is full tread at 8mm tread depth and another is shaved or worn down to 4mm, that is an overall 8mm difference (4mm on top and 4mm on bottom). That is 1/4" and is significant. That's why they say never to put on just 1 or 2 new tires with a set that's already worn. . .

With the new GTR's out that thing is obsolete. If you want to donate it to me I will take it off your hands.

J/K! Beautiful car!

SO the whole debate is over the circumfrence not how much thread is on contact with the pavemet.

I can see the drivetrain having problems if your are running two diffrent size tires meaning one tall and the other short because of the rotating it has to do. Of course one will spin faster than the other.

As long as its the same size tire all the way around. the 255's should fit with no fender mods.

Alex: I think you should reread the thread, you arent really saying anything that is useful or true.
