Z1 star specs.

I know everyone and thier mama give praises to the z1s. But are they overkill for a DD? During my searches it seems most of the guys are using them for autox and I dont go to the track. I'm looking for a set of summer tires that gonna be close to the same ride quality as the stock Yokos, since I'm already spoiled by the extra confidence they gave me.
Any help will be apreciated. thanks

What is "overkill"? Is it overkill to have a car that runs 13's out of the box? Is it overkill to reach 110 going up an on ramp? Is it overkill to scatter the groceries throughout the trunk every time I take turn on the way home from the store? Everything about an evo, with the exception of the warranty, is overkill. Go get your frickin tires. You'll love em.

Well since I answer yes to all those questions. Then I guess my baby is getting some new shoes. Thanks.

Unfortunately for some of us the grocery thing happens no matter if we're driving an evo, station wagon or a minivan.

Even if you think they are overkill, it's hard to beat the "bang for the buck factor with the Star Specs. Especially if you get a 17" size.

how many miles do you guys have on these?

I've got Goodyear GS-D3's on my IX right now and they SUCK. I lock the brakes ALL THE TIME. impossible to slow before the next cone without braking almost as soon as you hit the throttle . But, they look like they're wearing pretty slowly... and I DD on them, so that's important. But not that important.

You really can't go wrong with the Star Specs. I bought a set to replace the stock Advans and couldn't be happier with the performance vs price.

During aggressive daily driving, I can break them loose a lot easier than the Advans but they are very predictable when they do let go.

You guys need the cargo net thing for the trunk. But, the dog flying around the back seat is another story.

Don't know about socal per se, but Tirerack always has good pricing.
