275/40 R17 tires on EVO ?

anybody out there know of a what 17x9 wheels would allow 275/40r17 tires to fit an EVO?

any recommendations on 17x9 wheel offsets to enable 275s to not rub with a stock or coil over suspension setup?

hey

the widest tire i have seen on an EVO that FITS, is a 255. the apex EVO 8 runs Volk ce28's 17x9.5f +12 ET, 17x9r +35 ET w/ 255/40/17f&r, and apparently it it rubs in the front. but this is a pure race car, and have 14klbs springs. the suspension doesnt move much.

anything can be done with the right amount of $$, but 275 width tires is a bit rediculous. it would probably hinder performance. the extra weight of the tire would create extra rotating mass, and reduce hp.

anyway, like i said, with enough$$ anything can be done, but i think a 255 is way wide enough.

If you wanted to roll the fender lips and go to a coil-over setup, you might make 275s fit. On mine the 255s come out further than stock, and sit within 1/4" of the spring shoulder on the strut.

What offset are your 17x9s?

40mm, fronts have a 3mm spacer, so figure 37mm offset.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out if I will be able to squeeze some 255s on my 17x9 +35. I guess I'll see if Discount tire will test fit a tire for me. It should work since you have about 1/4 inch of clearance and only about 2mm more clearance from the offset.

Actually you should end up with a bit more inside clearance, as the spacered 37mm offset puts the rim 2mm further inboard than your 35mm. Should fit just right with yours, as the fender clearance on mine is good, with room for some slight outboard spacing.

Are the 17's as big as you can go without mods, cuz I want to get the 18x7 Kazera KZ-R's with the 215/35W/R18 Yokohama Parda Spec-2's for my OZ

Yes, the EVO can have 19 inch wheels without mods. I would think the standard Lancer would be fine 18 inch wheels, but what do I know since this is the wrong group to ask that, and the wrong thread too.

Try posting this question over here, in it's own thread...

Seems crazy big to me as well. Lots of mods would have to be done to make that Corvette tire to fit

it's an Fbody tire for 17x9 WS6 Firebirds and Camaro SSs, and I have access to a huge pile of used ones that I can basically grab for free - though they are worn they are still tempting.

free tires on the EVO for life if only they would fit
