(Max) tire size Advan RGII 18*9 +29 on Evo IX

Hi all,

I recently bought a Evo IX and it came with 18*9 +29 Advan RG II -wheels and 235/40-18 tires. The tires are worn out so I have to get new ones.
I would like to go a bit wider than 235 if thats possible without rubbing and my question is will 255/35-18 work without rubbing? Rolling/spacers needed?
Or am I better off sticking to 235/40-18 or maybe 245/something?

The car is currently sitting on Tein S-Techs but I will get the MonoFlex coilovers very soon.

Thankfull for any input/experience!

Regards,
Patrik

Depends what tires you're getting, because some tires run wider than others. I had a set of 245/40/18 Azenis RT-615 on the same wheels and they didn't rub. I now have 255/35/18 Dunlop Direzza DZ101 and they dont rub either, but the DZ101 look to be skinnier than the RT-615.

Current alignment specs on my car: -2* camber front, -1.5* camber rear. 0 toe all around.

You should be able to run the 255s without issue. I've run many different 255s on mine. While on stock struts... you will be limited on max negative camber up front but once you switch to coilovers you'll be fine.

So 255/35-18 should be a safe bet then? And there should not be any issues with rubbing?
I've been looking at some Falken FK452's, not sure if that's something you have in the US?

If anyone else has some insights, please feel free to comment

Thanks!

I like 245/40 since they are taller. Better for daily driving.

The 18" tires are gonna be a tiny bit shorter than the stock 17" tire. Even with that offset you won't have any problems.

Yea.... if I remember correctly... a 255-35-18 is shorter than a 235-45-17.

And the width is not a problem with 9" wide wheel and that offset?

I'm just used to my previous car where 225 was the absolute maximum I could use and 255 just seems SO wide

I too was considering 255/35/18's, but opted for 245/40/18 as they will be a tad comfier for daily driving and should be cheaper too.

this is true they are alot cheaper in price. they do require a bit more fender work to fit though compared to the 255/35 considering it's a bit taller.

Agreed on the fender work, I just switched to a 18x9.5+22 and am eating it now lol, but with a 18x9+29 I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult.
