Nitto NT 555 or Kuhmo MX

Nitto NT 555 or Kuhmo MX - has any one tried them on the Evo? Both are about $120 or $100 less than the OEM tire. Both seem to get pretty good reviews.
I know they probably not as good as the Yoko's but I burned through my Yoko's in 3500 miles so $900 in tires every oil change is a bit steep!

I'd go with the MXs. I do have those on my car, and they grip almost as good as the Advans.

Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the performance of Nitto tires since we do not carry them. However, for the money, the MX is an awesome tire. Many people I sell that tire to use them for autocross and love them. Great dry traction, steering response, and ride. Check out the reviews:

I have not owned either tire, but from my experience, i've never heard anything positive about any nitto tire except for their drag radials. a friend of mine has the NT-450's and they are terrible. i have also heard negative things about the 555's

I have the 245/40 17 MX mounted on the stock wheels and they are very good so far (only have a few hundred miles on them).

I've used the Nitto 555s before and they were not that great at all. I'd get the Kumhos.

I have to agree with naucrx. The NT555 are alright, but can't compare to the Kumho MX.

I have the kumho tires, and the sidewall appears much taller... both when you are driving and cosmetically. In the dry they are good for the money. However in the wet...NOT GOOD. I barely touched the gas on an exit ramp and the car went 180. I can freely break traction in these tires in the wet, whereas I could not with the advans. Just my $.02
