16" wheels for EVO 8?

Just got back from Discount Tire since a friend works there and his computer indicates that 16" rims will work on the EVO! Everything i have heard prior to this has been just the opposite. According to Discount Tires headquaters in AZ., they have tested exactly which 16" rims work on the EVO. Is this possible since for the winter a 16" rim with studded snow tires would be a lot of fun on the frozen lakes up here in Michigan. Has Tire Rack done any 16" wheel fitments???????

Of all the wheels we carry, we have found no 16" product that will work. Not saying its impossible, but it seems hard to believe that diameter will clear the calipers. Are they using any spacers or other hardware? What is the exact size and specs of the wheel (offset, width, etc). I might be able to check with my techs to see what they think I have some specific fitment numbers.

Winter hasn't hit the US just yet. Based on some of the dumbass stunts I've seen, anything is possible.

Why anyone would drive on ice that isn't at least 18" thick baffles me.
