I've read in here before that they really make no differance. Yes, in theory they should increase rigidity and create more stability, but the little that it's going to increase isn't worth it. You'll never noitce.
When I first put front and rear strut bars on my Mirage many many many years ago, I DID infact feel a differance. The Evo is already such a rigid chassis that bracing isn't going to make a noticable differance in that part of the car.

If you look at a drawing of the suspension (or crawl under) you'll see that all the side load is handled by those forged aluminum arms, three to a side. The strut tower really isn't a strut tower but only a mounting point for the spring/shock assembly. So, unlike the front, where the tower encounters large side loads, there are only vertical loads at the rear.

I like my rear strut bar. However I put it on at the same time when I stiffened the springs so I don’t' know how much was the bar or springs. The right springs and bushings are defiantly better bang for your buck.
