Advan Sport installed
Hi guys,
I installed 4 brand new advan sport tires in my Evo 7.
My initial impressions vs A046 are:
1- Steering feel: Light, precise.
2- Comfort: Small irregulatires 25% more comf, big irregularities almost equal to
A046
3- Stability at low speed: good
4- Stability at high speed: HORRIBLE
5- Slalom: HORRIBLE / NIGHTMARE / Do you want to kill yourself? Buy this tire!!!
The rear end become instable, I feel the rear tires flexing... A very BAD feel!!! like gelatin!!!
I know that the A046 are the best tires for the Evo, but they are forbidden in my country.
The Evo needs a stiffer sidewall when on stock size 235/45/17
I will try to contact the store and Yokohama together to get the AD08 Neovas, but I do not know if they will fix the problem
obs: Tried a lot of pressures from 28 to 35psi
The same corner I was used to turn at 140km/h with my Evo, 130Km/h with my Outlander V6 and now with Advan Sport installed no more than 100Km/h!!!

+1. Give the tire a 1K miles or so to break in a bit before you get a real idea of it's handling. At full tread depth they will squirm quite a bit and tend to roll over if pushed. True with any new out of the box tire.

Do you think that AD08s are a better choice?
Btw, How do you explain that "flexing" feeling? (even on straights)
Have you ever driven an Evo with 235/45/17 Advan Sports?

I have been driving an evo with 245\40\17 Advan Sports for the whole season - 5\2 dd\ax. They do have a really soft sidewall and roll even with 45 psi )), they do flex and make evo feel unstable and sluggish on dry road a little bit. They become better at 2\3 thread, and start loosing grip on dry pavement after 2\5 of thread. I found 37 psi to be an optimal pressure for them.
The only reason i bought them is a really good grip on wet road.
AD08 are really good and have nothing in common with Advan Sports. A048 are even better, but only if you use them on dry track.

My worn A046 are back to the car today, I'm waiting the AD08 arrival in November...
I'm having a lot of work and expending a lot of money because of these Advan Sports... so be smart and never put this **** on your EVO!!!!

Just wanted to share my experience... I recently changed tires on my evo (from stock potenzas to falken azenis) and the handlig was HORRIBLE, but as the tire wears some it handles better and better, I think you should give the Advan sport another chance, wear them a little and then compare, keep in mind you are comparing the handling of a pretty worn tire to a brand new one = not a fair comparision.
Hope that helped, good luck.
