Rim offset...I know..

This topic puts me at an awkward situation because normally most people don't' go down this road. I'm putting a Veilside DTM widebody kit on my car and I'm trying to figure out what type of offset that I'm going to need to be flush with the fenders. Stock was 17x7.5 with a 38 offset and that was fine with the stock Evolution V fenders. After that it was bumped up to 16x8 with a 0 offset. ...Is there some type of math to this madness?
