Try using a tephlon polish or wax.

I don't think it's made anymore but castrol made a wheel cleaner in a purple bottle that worked great for all my wheels back in the day. I doubt it's made anymore since I can't find it anywhere but you never know.

Stop using that wheel cleaner immediately! One is best off not having to use a wheel cleaner at all. If the finish on the wheels is slick enough, brake dust, etc, can be handled with car soap and water. I prefer Finish Kare 1000P for this application. Its high-temp composition greatly adds to durability. Duragloss 105 from CarQuest and NAPA is a great OTC option. I'd suggest applying 3 layers of either product, one after each wash. Even after the first layer, dirt and brake dust won't stick. FWIW, you'd get more streamlined replies if you posted this on the detailing forum. Good luck.

You wouldn't be polishing the wheels. There no abrasives in durable sealants. There would be a little added gloss, though, that goes along with the protection.
