Yes, the uneven tire wear can probably be corrected through alignment.
Please elaborate on what you mean by funny wear on the outside edge, and is it all four tires, just the fronts, just the rears, or just a single tire? Too much wear on the outside edge could be caused by incorrect camber setting, by too much toe-in, by underinflation of the tires, or simply by too much hard cornering.

Do you have one edge of the tread blocks which has a feathered edge? Kind of like a tiny little "spoiler" on the edge of the tread block?
If so, and if it's most pronounced on the outside edge of the front tires, you've got too much front toe-in. The factory spec is for zero toe-in at the front, if I'm not mistaken.
