Need brake pads for my evo
I just did my 15K mile service at the dealer and they said that my brake pads are almost worn out. Sure enough they look like they are ready for replacement. I was just wondering what my options were? I know there is obviously the stock Brembos, and the Ferodos. Which is better? I don't think I was to look into any specialized brands like EBC Greenstuff, since I had a compatibility problem with the rotors on my previous car. Any info on what my options are and how well they performance would be appreciated.

A friend of mine runs the redstuff pads and seems happy with them, except for the noise. His wife is embarrassed to drive the car near schools because they're so loud before they warm up. And before anyone comes up with some derogatory wife comments, she's a track fiend as well.. I'd stick with the stock brembos, they were only 80 bucks at my dealer and mine are holding up great despite going through 3 track days with them and 13K miles. You must be a maniac to wear out your pads at 15K!

I really don't abuse them that much. At least I didn't think so until now. I do a lot of freeway racing. Being that I live in SoCal, I am usually on the brakes pretty quickly on the freeway because of all the traffic. Yeah I guess I should stick with the factory ones to be safe. My experience on my last car definitely taught me to stick with what I know. Who is a good vendor for brembo pads? My dealer tried to rip me off by telling me that fronts and rears were about $210 per set. They are dreaming if they think I am going to pay $420 for brake pads. Also, do you guys know of a good shop around LA that I can use for the labor? I guess I could go to Roadracemotorsport or the dealer. I didn't ask the dealer how much they charge, but it's got to be more than what a regular tuning shop charges.

Get Ferodos! EBC sucks because they will eat through your rotors It happened to me on an Aem upgrade. I have used many upgrade setups with pads in my life and by far crossdrilled and slotted brembos with Ferodo pads will give the most confidence at the highest speeds and the hottest temperature, braking as hard as you want

there's a company in england i think that makes pads as well.
the brand is called 'Mintex'
I have them on my evo7 and to tell you the truth, you could never tell the difference between the mintex..and the stock pads.
they hold reallllll good!
price is like 80 pounds.

Those pads from MachV are the oem's. The pads that comes with our cars are not made by brembo, they do not make pads, those pads are made by Galfer. To be honest, I will take the ebc's anyday than the galfers.
One of the reason that I changed to the ebc was that on the oem's the initial bite is horrible and also with the ebc there is almost no brake dust.

Ferodo ds 2500 are just slightly better than the standard ones.
Ferodo ds 3000 are very good, very high friction pads, but as there are a lot of metal particles they leave a lot of dirt on the wheels.
Pagid rs 14 are about the same as ferodo ds 3000, but they are organic, so they leave less dust on the wheels... They brake much better than standard pads.
Pagid rs 15 should be like the rs 14, but even more agressive... if you don't have road legal semi slick tyres like a048r, you ll probably lock the wheels easely.
The blue pagids (rs 4 2 4???) are less aggressive than the rs 14 and 15, more progressive for wet road or gravel, but still slightly better than ferodo ds 2500.
rs 19 are the endurance pads, they are less aggressive than rs 14, but should work very well at high temperature and last very long.
BTW, with rs 14, 15 or ds 3000 you will get much more braking power.
