Best lowering springs? or not worth it?

Best lowering springs? or not worth it?

I recently bought an 04 RS and its way to high for me, lol. I was thinking about going with the Tein springs, any input on these or any other suggestions. Dont have the cash flow for coilovers so dont try convincing me lol

this will be ONLY for looks, so based on that you can decide if its worth it or not

well does the tein cause stress on the stock struts or anything? not knowledgeable on this stuff yet

Then Tein springs it is..

Anything that isnt oem is going to put stress on the shock. The oem shocks are valved for oem springs. Putting a shorter spring on with stiffer spring rates is going put stress on the shock. Its going to keep the shock compressed more then normal and sooner or later the shock will leak/blow..

lol sorry, my buddy had tein on an Srt 4 and he said it rode like ****, didnt know if i shud just stay at the stock height or not

From experience of lowering srings then switching to coilovers. I'd save and buy a nice set of coilovers. It will be worthwhile.

coilovers. Save up and buy that. I think it's better than paying for new shocks once they blow or leak.. but im not trying to convince you. lol

lol, yeah if i can find a good deal on coilovers ill prolly jump on it lol so far not much good is coming from springs

This has been discussed many times. The Tein lowering springs are about the worst you can get ... you might actually be better off just cutting the stock springs. (kidding ... sort of)

Get a good set of lowering springs (Swift, GTWORX, Espelier-GT, etc.) and a good alignment and call it a day.

There is tons of info on this topic. The three realistic spring options for an Evo if you want to improve performance, not destroy your struts and get a moderate drop are swift spec R, gtworx and robispec. I recently put my car on the robi springs and am very impressed with them. The drop is perfect and still retains the factory rake and the behavior of the car in corners has improved dramatically. I've driven the spec Rs before and was equally impressed with them and the reviews for the gtworx are great, but the robispec springs are on sale for 200 right now, which made it an easy choice for me.

So many misconceptions here.

1. Struts do not care where they stroke from. They do care when they bottom out.

2. Tein are the WORST you can put on your car. Too low and too soft. Thus, bottoming out...leading to blowing.

3. None of the people hear are on point.

I think it is funny that all the new people come in and make a post of "what springs should I get? what about the teins?" Pretty funny considering there are about 7.345 million threads discussing how bad the teins suck.

Anyway, good springs worth considering are:

swift (either mach or spec-r)
gtworx
robi
espelir
tanabe
