swift spring install

do you need to compress springs when installing swift sport springs on evo 9?.Rasta

Yes to do it properly you should compress them.

my memory is really rough but i believe the rears you dont but fronts you definitely

You need a compressor to take the stock springs off, but you can put the rear springs on without a compressor. The fronts maybe, but just use a compressor to be safe.

A guy who works beside me used to lay the strut on the ground, put his foot on the base of the strut, point the top away from everything, and just zip the top nut off with an impact gun. Easy, fast and amusing.... but dangerous

Exactly. The rear isn't necessary, but the fronts for sure, yes.

As you loosen the rear top nut you will feel the spring come loose, the front however will have a ton of pressure on it. Compress it enough to take the pressure off, then remove the nut. *Make sure you mark 1 of the top bolts and it's position on the car so when you reinstall the assembly it goes back in the same exact way.
