Looks like they only offer a 17 x 7. You wouldn't want to go narrower than stock. If you like the look of those wheels, check out the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 or 1.2's. Same wheels that were used on the previous FQ400 Evo. I've been using Pro Race 1's for a few years. They've held up great. These guys have a nice selection. A 17 x 8 30 offset should work fine.

It would kind of suck to paint new wheels but you could buy these enkei's from tirerack. It's close to the style of your link. They're a good deal at $180ea.

Then paint them black before you put them on. You could do a nice job easy with no tires on them and with them being clean already. It's a better quality wheel than your first post for not much more money. It's the right width that will fit the car for sure.

If you're just looking for something as cheap as possible, discount tire has a couple of wheels at rock bottom prices for the evo. I bought a set of these for my winter wheels and they look surprisingly good on the car. 28 offset is nice. They're only $135ea. no black though. Paint does work pretty good if you need black.

Your other option is to watch the F/S section on the forums for some black 17's.

Thanks for the info. If I wanted 235/55/17 would a 17x8 work, or will i need 17x9. I might just keep the stocks and paint black, but would 235/55 fit the stock rim?

Your probably thinking 255/40/17 that's good for a 17x9 rim. for stock, stay near stock size 235/45/17 or 245/45/17 u can run 255 but looks a lil bulgy for a 17x8 rim. As for the side wall 55 is huge!!!! No higher then 45

my buddy has 255-40-17 on his 06 mr and they fit fine without rubbing issues. they are on the factory bbs wheels. if that helps.

also if your looking for cheaper wheels that fit right look at the rota wheels or go to wheeldude.com

Why do you want 55 sidewalls?

I really feel like 255/40/17 is the best size for the evo for summer. It's just slightly bulky on the stock wheels size of 17x8 but it fits fine and gives you some nice fat rubber to grip the road with. It will not rub. Nearly everyone runs 255/40 on their evo's without issues. 245/40 is what I would go with for an alternative with a slightly better sidewall stretch. 45 series sidewalls just don't look as good. Since the sidewall number is a percentage of width the stock 235/45 doesn't have quite the sidewall a 245/45 would. So with that size your side would be even bigger than stock.

Rule of thumb 8" wide wheels 225-255 comfortably

9" wide wheel 235-265. 255's will go on either width but they are about the max a 8" wheel can take but still look good.

Being in New York you have to consider the weather. If you're running these one set of tires year round you probably want to stick to stock size (235/45/17) or 245 at the most and get all seasons. 255 is too wide for snow.

I run 225/45/17 on 17x8" 28 offset for winter and 255/40/17 on 17x9" 32 offset for summer.

No you do NOT want DUNLOP crap, I work at a shop that sells tires, and I deal with all sorts of tires, and dunlop isn't the best choice, try getting some BFG KDW for the summer but for the winter try finding some stock wheels and some BLIZZAK's.
