255/40 will have slightly less turn-in response over the 245/40. 245/45 had the same issue. But, you are correct. 245/45 allowed me to us 2nd for longer in long AX courses. Saved time in shifting over turn-in and ultimate grip. Everything has a positive and negative side to it.
