if you're new to the track, the ultimate sticky wide tire is not really the way to go.
Don't wider tires affect the scrub radius too?

Not by themselves. But bigger tires usually mean wider rims and more offset to fit them. That affects scrub radius.

BTW, 13.0 quarter, bone stock? Is that normal for a IX? Do you have to fry clutches to get those times? Seems pretty impressive.

Interesting dicussion, I agree with griceiv that in a car as heavy as the evo the wider you go in tire size, the more cornering grip the car has and the faster you are as a result.

I personally ran 245, 255, 275, 285, 295 and 315s and the car was always faster as I went up in tire size; however suspension adjustment was also needed to fully take advantage of the added grip, body roll and camber loss that came along. Even with 315's I have more heat in the front that I can handle.

Yes bone stock, I took it to the track right after the break-in period, with about 1k miles on the clock. Currently, I have a bout 50k miles and I’m still on the same stock clutch.
