Not by themselves. But bigger tires usually mean wider rims and more offset to fit them. That affects scrub radius.
BTW, 13.0 quarter, bone stock? Is that normal for a IX? Do you have to fry clutches to get those times? Seems pretty impressive.

Interesting dicussion, I agree with griceiv that in a car as heavy as the evo the wider you go in tire size, the more cornering grip the car has and the faster you are as a result.
I personally ran 245, 255, 275, 285, 295 and 315s and the car was always faster as I went up in tire size; however suspension adjustment was also needed to fully take advantage of the added grip, body roll and camber loss that came along. Even with 315's I have more heat in the front that I can handle.
