Tread Width of ADVAN A046, Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, Ecsta XS

Researching to replace my stock Advans with a published Tread Width of:

8.6" (235/45/R17)

The Kumho Ecsta XS do not publish their Tread Width for any sizes.

The Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec do not publish their Tread Width for any sizes I am interested in either.

If anyone has the Tread Width for the XS or Z1 in the following sizes, I'd appreciate it. Thx:

235/45/R17
245/40/R17
245/45/R17

Thanks again.

Don't know where your looking but TireRack has ALL that info your looking for right on their site. Search by brand, then chose the tire your looking at, then click Specs. All the info is right there, height, width, revs per mile...

Tread widths aren't listed for the Z1 or XS on TireRack or their respective brand sites hence the reason for this thread. I know the OP has contacted Dunlop and Kumho directly so hopefully they're able to send him the info he wants. If not, we may be stuck with someone just going out to the garage with a ruler and measuring the width of the actual tread touching the ground.

Wish I had them but reason they are not listed online is because those companies will not share that info with us. You could get an idea based off other tires from Kumho/Dunlop within the same class as the majority are within a tenth or so of an inch from each other.

Neal...for us gearheads, information is good. Why do you think they hold this info back? Why is it advantageous to them? Thx.

Less info your competitors have the better is only thing I can think of. There are recipe secrets that they won't share with us either. For example, many tires out there that appear the same, but are different cost's and part numbers. All specs the same but something, that they don't share, makes them different. Annoys customers and makes my job trickier but that's how it goes. Same with unpublished spring rates.

Hahaha, your right, I saw section width which is right next to tread width which is blank. Sorry for not looking closer and posting wrong info.

Whats section width then?

Section width is the sidewall to sidewall width measurement. Actual width of the tire. Tread width the width of the tread slab portion of the tire.

I would guess and say its probably about .75" less than the section width by looking at some of the figures they do give for other sizes. That would give you a ball-park at least...
