255 looks stupid on the stock 8" wheel, so no sense trying to fit a 265 on there. 245 fits PERFECTLY on the 8" wheel, I don't know why people think that extra 10mm of tread and extra sidewall flex will be so much better.

255's don't look or perform "stupid". 245's are weird because the 40 aspect ratio is a little small on overall diameter and the 45's look like balloons.

What is the weight of the 255's anyway?

28lbs. Still a lot. Star Specs are relatively heavy tires.

I was debating that as well and went with the 40 profile and I'm glad I did. Steering turn in definately feels more positive. 265 would be better on a 9"-9.5" wheel I'm told.

Kinda offsets my light wheels and brakes. Which sucks.

These tires run wide to start with I wouldn't go beyond a 255 40 17

Bringing this tread back from the dead. So can anyone provide insight into a 17x9.5 wheel that will fit a 265/40/17 tire and not rub or require fender rolling? It seems like 17x9 rota dpt with 255/40/17 is about as wide as you can go without having to roll fenders.

^Not sure about 265's but guys run 9.5's and 255's all the time without major rubbing issues that require fender rolling, including me.

DPTs with 255 Star Specs is ~48lbs per corner.

255s weight 28lbs and dots are at 19 so 47lbs or I could run 245/40 on stock bbs and I'm looking at 44lbs but the width is way different. 255s have 10.4 inched and 245s have 9.8 more than half an inch at four corners

If you're going to buy the Rotas, why not get something lighter? Similarly, why tires as heavy as the Dunlops, and how is the overall width relevant to your application?
