Survey: Goodyear/Dunlop DOT R-Comp Interest

Hey Guys/Gals,

I have been talking with friends at Goodyear (parent company to Dunlop) about their lack of a DOT r-comp type tire. GY currently does not have a direct competitor for the Nitto NT01, Advan A048, Kumho V700/V710, etc. This would be a good tire for AX or HPDE days and a step up from the Dunlop Z1 Star Spec.

I am gauging interest to present to GY on if this is something they could possibly look into and create. A DOT tire with minimum tread, stiff carcass, and good compound.

Please use the poll above to weigh in. If you have any comments or questions, please put them below.

Thanks,

MG

Those are Aussie / JDM spec tires. I don't think they are DOT. Ill look into those, see if they can be imported.

I would be interested if it was a dedicated AX tire. Tires that are meant to be a jack of all trades tend to not be accepted very well since they aren't good at anything in particular.

Count me in as interested...

I'm running RA1's right now at my track days.

Voted, would like more options in stock size.

Btw, how many R-comps are available in stock size?

What are these? Link

"Premium sidewall styling." Sign me up

The "Tire Guide" in the link has two compounds "RC" and "AC." Is this supposed to remind me of A6 and R6?

I don't believe those were sold to the public outright. They were available to the SCCA teams only. I will get with my contacts Monday to see if this is something we can look into. Or getting the 03G here.

I currently autoX and DD my second set of Star Specs. I love the tires! I am looking at stepping it up to R-comps next autox season but would love to have something fit the stock wheels. And be made for autox'ers. I friend of mine has currently runs Kumho's and they are relatively cheap.

Interested if priced close to the NT01, or slightly above with performance gains....

I am asking on these tires - they seem to be similar to the NT01s.

+1. Nitto really has the market cornered here. But they seem to jump from 255's to 275's with no 265 or 285 options.
R888 and RA1 were good; but the NT01 is better. That's really it for tires that can take a full 20-30min of track abuse and last tons of events. There's other options, but frankly they aren't as good.
