help me choose an auto-x tire for street tire classing
well, i've been stewing over tires for quite a while now, and my head is spinning.
for now, i want to stay in a street tire class until i get to be a more experienced driver, then switch to nt01s.
i've been looking at the hankook rs3. it seems like a great tire, but is only offered in 225/45/17 or 255/45/17. my track wheels are 8" wide, the 225 seems a little too mild width wise, and the 255 seems like it would be too wide. i don't want to have sidewall roll over issues.
i've also been looking at the nitto nt05, dunlop star spec, kumho xs, hankook v12 evo... the list goes on.
so please help me decide on which one to go with. keep in mind the tires won't be daily driven, and i don't really want to spend more than $150 per tire.
thanks!

Don't put 255s on an 8" wide wheel. FTD = Fastest Time of the Day.
The Ecsta XS has noticeably higher lateral grip in good conditions but lacks the responsiveness of the Star Spec and turns to complete tosh in the cold or wet. The XS also wears out extremely quickly - I wore out my fronts in less than 2,000 miles at the end of last year's autox season. Star Specs all the way.

I will throw out there that i recently put the nt-05's on........and i have not yet auto crossed them yet but the performance of these tires really shine on dry pavement. There has been nothing but great reviews from them. I believe the tires might be a little cheaper than the star specs as well.
Both the nt-05 and the Star specs are great tires in my book.
