275/40/17 on stock enkei

im expecting rubbing. I already have fenders rolled. anyone running this size tire with stock evo 8 enkies. Hows fitment etc? do you like them?

Not a chance...widest is 255 with very stiff sidewalls (Falken Azenis, Dunlop Direzza Star-Specs).

one of the tire threads was talking about 275/40/17 but it didnt specify the width of the rim. I was actually looking at some nitto nto5 255/40/17

You may be able to get it to fit on the rim but whats the point? If you want wider than stock go with a 245/40/17, 245/45/17 or a 255/40/17.

With what tire? With a normal, DOT radial 275/40 is pushing it and folks only do it for very, very specific applications. If you are running a race tire with cantilever sidewalls, it's more feasible, but I doubt you would be asking here...

I mounted a 275-40 on a wheel that we used for display at my work that was the same size as the Evos.

Not only did it not look right, it simply will not function correctly due to how much it balloons over the wheel.

It's been done many times for stock class auto-x cars. The stock class requires stock wheel width but is pretty much unlimited on tire size. I wouldn't say its recommended but it's doable, that said it will probably rub on the front struts without a spacer.
