Exclamation Shaking steering wheel at 70mph

Hi!
I have 05 EVO. Not always, but most of the time when I am driving on the highway my steering wheel is shaking. It is happening at around 70mph. I did everything I thought to solve the problem, but it didn't help. Wheels are balanced, inner and outer tie rods are OK, ball joints are OK, wheel bearings are OK, alignment done. It is happening on two different sets of wheels and tires (both balanced). What else might cause that problem. Please help me.

Maybe try a different shop for balance. Sometimes their machine gets out of whack.

it can be tires, tire balance, warped rotors, wheel alignment.

I balanced wheels in two different places - no result. Rotors are OK, because it's happening during driving not braking.

I'd try another shop for rebalance. May want to locate an installer with a Hunter Road force machine. You can view a list of our installers here Tire Rack Installers

Also check strut mounts. Worn mounts can cause those issues.

I also have this problem and have done all the same to no avail. I will check out the strut mounts.

Today somebody else drove my EVO and I observed it from another car. I did not see any tires shaking, but steering wheel was still doing this. Does it mean something???

The amount the wheel/tire is actually moving is very small. You wont see it most of the time.

Tire could be bad. I have seen a proxy R-4's that is "out of round" vibrate at speed. Its actually a guy I work with. Another thing it might be. Have you hit that wheel on anything? Gone over a large pot hole or ran over something in the road?

With my winter tires on I had this problem. The funny thing was I could drive for maybe twenty miles at high speed and everything was fine. Then, suddenly, the steering wheel would be shaking (Eagle GT HR's). On with the summer tires and now the problem is gone. The same place did both balances. However, I don't see any weights on the outsides of the rims and no stick-on weights. So, only weights on the inside. That is only going to work sometimes.
