Had my track day today. I have another 7 minutes before I need to go to bed...so it will be quick.
I got the car put together late Tuesday night in preparation for the lapping day on Wednesday (practice)
new to the car this outing...
TRE rear diff 1.5way MAX lock
12k springs up front
16k Hyperco springs in the back
went to a stock rear ARB
2pc Girodisc rotors
Girodisc lines
RBF600 fluid
new front wheel bearings
When I made it to the track I was plagued by retardedness. First I swapped the springs and did not corner balance or align. My spring height was different than previously spec'd and therefor my ride height was off. I guess I didn't notice on the stock wheels at 3AM. So I had to set ride height in the rear again at the track. After rolling on the track to get warmed up I felt something weird in the front left corner...so I pulled off the track and jacked up the car. I scratched my head wondering how the wheel bearing could be loose, and then grabbed a breaker bar and had a friend step on the brakes. I was able to move the nut about 60 degrees. After I did the left...I checked the right. It only moved about 30 degrees. Either way I feel dumb now... I may have cost myself yet ANOTHER set of wheel bearings.
It was about 11AM before I finally got out on the track with tire pressures set and everything in order. After 3 stints of 1 out lap, 3 timed, and 1 cool down lap of getting used to the car my times had dropped by just shy of 3 seconds!
Without sounding like an infomercial... THE TRE DIFFERENTIAL IS THE ****. I put this up there in the top three mods you can do to your Evo. It makes the car handle like it should and like everyone TRIES to do with springs, huge bars, super high tire pressures, and goofy alignments.
let me say this again. The TRE differential should be REQUIRED with the purchase of an Evolution.
It completely transformed my car from a FWD turdbox coming out of the corners doing 3 wheel burnouts into a 4WD trackslut!!!!
BEST MOD EVER.
If you have understeer problems with your Evo...
GO BUY THE TRE REAR DIFF NOW!
I'm going to make a thread dedicated to how much I love the TRE diff tomorrow when I can give it the time and effort it deserves. Jon @ TRE did such an exceptional job with this and its soooooooo affordable and the turn around time was ridiculous.
I owe 3 seconds on a 1:10 course to the TRE diff.
I'd also like to say that it was the FIRST time I was able to POWERSLIDE my evo and let me tell you... The roofline couldn't contain my smile. I almost cried. I'm in love with my car again.
I have to go to bed now, but one last parting thought. I dropped 3 seconds off my time... Scott should be able to drop 2 or so off his as well.... putting us capable of a 1:08 flat. We're approaching Ariel Atom territory in the 1:07's. I wonder if 500whp from an FP Red would dip us into the 7's (yes there is an FP Red on the way)

i hope everyone gives this thread a read - will you be changing any of the set up as you go along? still lifting a tire? burning one of them, etc?

I was talking to my friends tonight about the car.... and I was saying how I finally found that piece of the puzzle that was evading me. I'll corner balance the car, align it, and install some Beatrush Diff bushings. I think it's perfect.
I think I'm going to focus on taking weight off the front end of the car and making a retarded amount of horsepower with the FP Red.... but as far as suspension is concerned... I'm not to worried about it anymore.
I'll probably try and manufacture my own PSRS setup that is more NVH compliant.... and probably make some BURLY camber/caster plates. But Its since dropped very low on the priorities list. I feel that my car is FINALLY in the ballpark and ready to be played with.
Sorry for the random thoughts, but I'm just so pleased with the car now...I don't know what to say. It just works.

I was actually interested in seeing how the BBK-B did versus the Red in pump gas power and race gas power. My curiosity has been peaked as to each turbo's transient response. I do some testing at work to compare the transient response of the engine operating in different modes... more or less I'd like to plot the transient time in milliseconds for each turbocharger to reach 90% of the peak torque for that given RPM. Make enough pulls to plot from 2k to 6k and then generate a curve based on the data. More or less do a detailed analysis of their ability to come to life. Another conversation that i had tonight! Are you tapping my cell phone? lol.
Ok I'm going to bed for real this time. gn!

I'm glad to see that your experience with the TRE rear diff mirrors mine, Ernie. Although I probably wasn't as close to tears as you, I DO have a huge grin every time I track my car now.
Changing shocks and springs is all well and good, but it's the rear diff that really puts the exclamation point on it, and frees you up to use the swaybars as they are meant to be used ... ie to fine tune the balance of the car.

would you mind posting your review here? i've been working for a while to get the word out.. the first thing everyone always turns to suspenion, like big fat sway bars, messing with tire pressures, coilovers etc.. this is the mod to fix the ROOT of the problem. hopefully more people will start to listen!

I figured I would post a picture of the corner package
and the new diff
Seat should be here on Monday...
FP Red showed up yesterday with the manifold
QM Aluminum Driveshaft should be here Thursday in time for the race

I tried to send you a PM saying that I've got a Recaro Pole Position seat you could borrow, I saw your WTB/FS thread but am too new here to post in that thread.
It's still hanging on the wall in my garage if you're still interested.
