I'm working on my driving technique to lightly tap the brake pedal with my left foot after exiting a corner. I'd like to stave off replacing the wheel bearings for a bit longer.

Just thought I would throw this out there for you. I know you been contemplating DFV's awhile. I may be giving up the gusto with my car. Haven't had my car out for almost a month and the first day I bring it back out I break the shift pin/clip for 5th gear on my MR. Spending well over 3k on coilovers and not having been able to track them once this year is rather flustrating so the car in it's whole may be finding itself in the FS soon. Not sure yet since I tend to have a chronic case of indecisiveness.

Anyways they are CBRD spec DFV's with custom valving and 11kF/12kR and they can handle +/- 3k rates safely. They have hardly any miles on them as I rarely drive the car. You can see my FS thread I posted awhile back as I could have sold them before but opted not too. Might put it back out there if this tranny problem is going to be a pain. See how the dealer treats me in that regards.

sounds pretty awesome - ever consider doing anything like upgrading the bushings, or the control arms themselves etc?
im running a fairly basic mild set up - gtworx, bilstein hd, a bunch of bushings for control arms etc - and the gruppe-s acd reflash + cusco 1.5 way rear diff - i didn't get a chance to test the two of them separately but the combination gives me some pretty awesome power oversteer on corner exits

Further back in the thread I did bushings. Upgraded LCA's? you have a suggestion? I've considered cnc'ing my own uprights so i can lower my car further

Ohh gotcha - i've just got the kit gtworx sells, which is front control arm bushings, roll center adjuster, rear trailing arm bushings, and the bumpsteer kit. I've just been looking for fixes to the suspension geometry beyond those. I had the sway bars but I opted not to install them - maybe at the very end as an adjustment but I think since the evo already tends to lift a wheel leaving it alone may be a good idea and relying first on the rear diff and acd to take care of the understeer.

i honestly kinda think the suspension tuning should be built around those two things first, esp the rear since the evo was built to accommodate a more aggressive rear diff (ayc or evo rs mechanical). some people seem to think that we got the jdm evo rs rear diff, when in reality it is far from it. in any case i'll definitely keep up to date with this thread, looking forward to seeing how everything turns out. the tre rear is definitely a great deal - i couldnt have the car down and i couldnt get a hold of him, so i went with the cusco 1.5 way type rs, had it machined properly and installed by ams. hopefully it'll last me a lifetime!

I was thinking about the same thing. Its interesting that the TRE differential isn't done first...because once its in... your spring rates, ARB settings, alignments, driving style...ALL CHANGE. Up until people go to the TRE diff.... you see people spending money like its going out of style trying to get the car to rotate...MOSTLY by reducing rear grip.

I CANNOT WAIT to get this diff on the way and in the car. SO FREAKING EXCITED. I might even cry when I powerslide...who knows!

I'd also like to thank Martin @ Girodisc for his wealth of brake knowledge and his assistance through my braking improvement. He simply knows his stuff. I cannot thank him enough. I called him today to talk to him about the pad knock back (NOT KICKBACK haha) and we had a nice little chat that resulted in a sweet little deal. I'll have to show pictures when I get back

I need to get into the garage and work off this migrain....and finish up on a turbo manifold that a customer has been waiting (very patiently I might add) for.

Update

Jon @ TRE has no cores so I need to pull mine and ship it asap. The neon is getting a header at the moment...so I need to finish the neon up tonight to pull the Evo in.

Hyperco 850# Springs ordered (Local shop had them!)

FP Green secured. Working a deal on an FP Red

New R6's showed up Monday via UPS.

Trying to find a seat to borrow/buy. I found a 250 dollar Sparco seat in Seattle. Might be worth checking out. I have lots of harnesses and I can fabricate a bar in a jiffy.

Wheel bearings, cotter pins, zip ties, and Brembo bleeder caps all ordered from Russell @ Mitsubishiparts.net THANK YOU RUSSELL!!!!! had it all in stock. What a champ!

Girodisc is coming through with the 2pc rotors, lines, fluid, and copious amounts of advice. Thanks Martin!

There's no way I'll be able to make the practice on the 28th, and it'll be a RUSH to get to the August 4th practice. Corner balance and dyno sessions planned prior to the practice.

ACD relocation and Battery relocation MAY happen between the practice and the race on the 13th. First things first!

Time to go bash knuckles on the header for the Neon BROP BROP!

I checked them for play and there was nothing that I could feel. The pad knock back is for real...and I REALLY don't like it. I don't mess around when it comes to safety/brakes.

You could always sign up to test these: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ace-stuff.html

If I had the funds I'd give'em a shot, as they include anti-knockback springs.

I got a hold of Jon@TRE and he'll be getting my diff out tomorrow. I'll see what FedEx says about shipping time...but it looks like I'll be taking Tuesday and Wednesday off work.

Tuesday to work on the car and Wendesday to go racing.

Got the wheel bearings today
