Stick with the dedicated winter tires, it's hard to find a set of all-seasons that will perform well in all conditions. And if you do, they are most likely going to cost as much if not more than dedicated summer and winter tires.

I cant stress enough when a tire looses its tread it is no good at any weather condition.
No. You didn't go faster with your advans in snow and ice than anyone did with dedicated winter tires. That's the biggest nonsense ever. Or if you did and got to live and tell the tale, you put many innocent people in danger. And if you went to a closed/off road somewhere, where noone is around, you were acting just plain stupid. Any decent car can be faster with dedicated winter tires than you can on summers, evo or not. And even if it can't be faster, they can control the car better than you can and they can STOP which you can't.

I agree with the part of tread that needs to still be there.

This.

Summer tire compounds should NEVER be used in snow/ice. They simply do not work at those temperatures/conditions.

^+1 The first snow my evo saw I tried driving around on the advans. They were just plain scary. After a minute or two I decided to turn around. I ordered a second set of wheels with winter tires and havent looked back since. It is a night and day different between the amount of grip with snow tires in the snow and summer tires in the snow. Two sets of tires allows me to have exceptional grip in the summer and the same can be said for the winter. No compromises.

Yeah I took my Evo out on the stock advans when I first got the car in 06. It was only a few inches of snow/slush, but the car definitely couldn't handle it safely. I know snow tires would optimize the performance of my car in the snow, and it seems like most people on the board who need to deal with winter conditions use dedicated winter tires. I'm leaning towards sticking with those.

I ran the falken ziex 912(all season) this past winter they were not that great in the snow at all. It was very slippery and It was hard to control. I'm gonna get me a set of winter tires this year so If I were you I'll keep your winter tires.
