Why do you think you need 255/40?

255/40 are shorter than OEM. Will be less responsive with turn-in. Weight more than OEM (rotational mass is bad). Footprint (contact patch) is only slightly bigger.

There is no reason to get 255/40 for DD.

Best all purpose tire to me is the azeni rt-615. They can get the job done all the way around. They just don't last very long.

Yes, but I think your more likely to find a great tire for auto-x that works well on the drag strip and exceptional in the street; then a great drag race tire that handles incredibly well for the street.
i think this was the best way put... with so many different opnions keep them coming love to hear all the pros/cons before i buy something

You need to decide what it is that you're after. You have recommendations from folks who have no idea how a drag tire behaves, recommendations from those who didn't read the initial post and assumed that you're referring to a road course (ie. track days), and recommendations from those who want you to buy what they did, regardless of application. Among all that, there were a few guys who explained the scope of the issue and its constraints. Seems pretty clear-cut. Good luck.
