Do you have aftermarket or original rotors on the car?

If you have the stockers ... the minimum thickness should be stamped on the inside of each rotor.

Bolt Circle Diameter : 4.5"
Brake Rotor Diameter : 12.6"
Brake Rotor Discard Thickness : 1.17"
Brake Rotor Thickness New : 1.26"
Brake Rotor Type : Disc Brake Rotor Only
Center Hole Diameter : 2.72"
Height : 1.71"
Maximum Lateral Runout : .002"

This is for the rotors I sell at Napa which meet OE specifications, so the measurements should be the same I'm assuming (correct me if I'm wrong someone)

OEM Specs are:

Front- 32mm - 29.8mm

Rear- 22mm - 20.4mm

+/- 0.015mm's between measurements is the maximum difference aloud. Measure in 8 positions 45 degrees apart from each other and 10mm down from the outer edge of the rotor.

I just changed my pads about 2 months ago. If your rotors fall withing the specs I posted, there is no reason to resurface the rotor. Just clean it up with some 400 grit sandpaper to remove any transfer material the old pads may have left and your good to go.

yeah, i have done pads twice on the car and it's just a pad slap. at 100k or maybe more, i'll change rotors. these rotors build a big lip on the edge, so if you cut them once, you pretty much will be at or under discard. if the rotors look good, and haven't been grinding, just pad slap em!

Question First brake pad change

I'm changing my pads for the first time and I measured the rotors (they are the stock ones). They have aprox 1.125" or 28.575 mm Front. Do I need to replace them? I have an 2008 Evo X. What's also the minimum for the rear?

well you obviously searched, but you may be better off asking in the evo X forums. Or check the rotor to see if it has the min thickness stamped on it.

need a brake micrometer to measure and if not to much materail was taken off you can cut rotors up to three times before you have to get new rotors. and just cause there is a lip on them dont mean you have to discard your rotors as long as they fall in spec's

with a 2 pc rotor i would think it is best to ask the manufacturer about that.
