need your input on coilovers!

im looking into getting a set of coils but not looking to throw down a ton of money.

i was looking at the megan racing track series:
http://www.speedelement.com/index.ph...mart&Itemid=38

and the bc racing br's:
http://www.speedelement.com/index.ph...mart&Itemid=38

from what ive heard the bc is what most people have gone with but that was always put up against the megan racing street series. any input you guys can throw in for me would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance, Daniel

If that is your price range and those are your 2 choices, get the bc's

I ordered the Megan Streets from SpeedElement for $850 shipped. I have been very happy with the setup thus far and the car handles great. The ride quality is also very good. I also upgraded front bushings with zero PSRS, Whiteline roll center, Whiteline bushing, whiteline precision steering kit and a pair of H&R bars.

I actually had my buddy local drive the car today and he was impressed with the setup. He runs the same stuff as me except he has the KW Variant 3's and some super sticky tires. The only unknown is the longevity of the struts that are used with the Megan's.

Well, our 500 series coilovers are in your price range as well.

We are the only manufacturers that offer coilovers at that price point and offer these key features:

  1. USA Technical Support
  2. Custom Valving and Rates available
  3. Expert Suspension Setup and Advise
  4. Coilover Rebuilds in the USA
  5. All Coilovers are Dynoed at the Factory
  6. ISO certified
  7. Oversized 50mm Pistons

We also have successfully campaigned our time attack evo's for 2 years now with great results. This has given us great insight on suspension setup: taking multiple factors into consideration such as tire selection, sway bar size, intended usage of car etc.

Those factors coupled with spring rates and custom valving really make us shine over the competition.

If you have any technical setup questions feel free to PM me and I can help you out

What is the use of this car?
Why do you need coilovers?

Its too bad Bilstein HS shocks are a rarity. The best you can do for your car in that price range is a nice shock/spring combo, adding sway bars to suit the purpose of the car (or leave stock).

Having no experience w/ FOrtune's coils, I can attest to the Megan's, Helix, HKS, and BC Racing being something that will be far inferior to that of the quality/ride/performance of the Bilstein Shock/Spring combo in an autox or track environment.

Although for kickin' around on the street, something my Evo doesn't do, I can't really comment.

With all due respect to the OP, coilovers are not something you should be looking at ... You'll end up being sorry and pay the "out of your price range" tag in the end anyway, except you'll waste a 1000$ in the process.

If you have an MR, just get a set of GTworx, or Swift SpecR springs and a rear sway bar and call it a day, that will change the handling of your car substantially... and you will only be out a few hundred dollars...
