Tie Rod Problems.....Anyone else have them?

I have tried to search the forums and i couldnt find anything relating to changing the tie rods (inner and outer). So today i figured i can do it, after watching 10 minutes of youtube, and going to my local autoparts store for a tie rod removal tool kit. The kit consisted of 3 different sizes. Now after getting the outer tie rod off which went painless, the inner was a pain. Auto shephard came through with the parts, but here is the problem.....on the inner tie rod originally installed in the evo's, has anyone encountered a lip on the inners while trying to take them out? the tool that i rented would not get over the lip resulting in them staying in the car. To my surprise, the new parts, fit perfectly onto the took kit that i rented. Am i doing something wrong? Or am i over looking something? I was thinking about getting the kit from harbor freight due to the better sizes that they have available......

i haven't done an inner on an evo yet, can you take pics? of the lip you are talking about and the tool you got. I can compare it to my snap-on inner tool.

If it's not toast now it soon will be. Is it loose at all? Might not cause shaking or anything but could start scuffing the tires if it is loose.
