I put a set of these on my Audi allroad, they are exceptional. Great traction and they look quite aggressive.

The GT has worked well in light/moderate snow but I wouldn't recommend them for deeper/harsher conditions.

It snowed here in upstate NY for the past week and the dws did amazingly well, no matter what the road conditions. I love them.

Agreed. Eagle GT has good road manners and can take light snow -- good all-season tire. For heavy/harsh -- snow tire will be best.

Since we have a law up here in Quebec that mandates snow tires on all vehicles from December 15th to March 15th, I would normally suggest a a good winter tire, but I had conti DWS on a previous car (FWD) and they were ok. Nothing too special when the temps get really low since the compound doesnt seem to agree with anything below -10 deg C. I would imagine that our AWD beasts would make better use of them, especially with the ACD equipped cars.
All seasons are fine for getting through a snow covered road but they won't ever grip on ice the way a snow tire can.

I run Hankook I-pike's (studded) in the winter and I outrun snowmobiles on frozen lakes as if they were pedestrians.

so for all you experts out there, i know nothing about tires and you guys i feel would be the most help, im in dire need of tires, and im looking for some nice all seasons that i can still have fun with and grip in the summer but wont feel like running on slicks in the winter, i live on long island (new york), the last snow fall we had was like maybe 2 inches and my car was sliding like it was a sled. i have narrowed them down by price and tread wear

bf goodrich super sport a/s
hankook ventus v4 es h105
and after reading this thread, maybe the continental extreme contact dws a/s

The BFG and Hankook would be average at best in all season climates. If you can, I would go with the DWS.

Midwest here....Running Conti DWS on second winter now (EVO X)... without issues... Great All-Season tire.
However be carefull on ice (probably applies to all tires anyway), be gentle with the throttle or brake.... but otherwise excellent tire.

I have Eagle GTs and they are pretty good and grippy in dry and light rain/snow. They wear a little fast though for not being strictly performance tires. Never had Continentals but I plan on getting them when the GTs need replaced in maybe 10000 miles (25k now on them).

Conti DWS installed day before snow storm. Terrific in snow, havn't had chance to push em on the pavement.

I paid 144 each installed, balanced, etc + tax. @ Mavis Tire. I think they're only in the NE.

Conti DWS, just had 8"+ of snow the last couple of days and they performed great. For an all season they do really well in the snow.

Conti DWS is a great tire. I work at a huge tire company and have been selling them on alot of cars. All say they have great traction and ride comfort. I don't have them on mine because I just bought a set of tires right before we stocked the DWS.

dunno why so many ppl are recommending ASX. i had them on my 350z and they sucked a$s. then i had eagle GT on my evo 8 and that was quite a bit better. but judging from reviews, i'd go with DWS
