Adjustment bolts!

Hi,
I went to have my car alignment few days ago. The mechanic said that the adjustment bolts on evo 8 are weak. He suggested to get better bolts. Would please tell me where can i get these bolts?

Thanks

The factory bolts that allow for camber adjustment are much stronger than any aftermarket "camber bolts". If someone swapped out the stock bolts for aftermarket in an attempt to gain more camber then your mechanic may be right. If the original bolts are still in place then you have no reason to worry.

Please take a picture of one and/or of the lower strut mount (2 bolts to the hub).

Did you buy your car used? Real factory Evo 8 suspension bolts are incredibly strong - as are the forged aluminum parts they bolt to. It's possible the last owner put on some Home Depot bolts to replace the real ones, in which case your car isn't safe to drive (at all).

Yeah I bought the car used. The mechanic did the alignment is well known for his work in SoCa here. I don't know if you guys hear about West End Alignment. His name is Darin. He told me that the design of the evo 8-9 bolts are not a good as the Evo X ones because It can be worn out easier than the Evo X bolt pattern. He just suggested me to get the new ones ready, when I decide to get alignment again. So he can swap the bolts in.

Thanks

Which bolts are you talking about? The front bolts are very strong. The rear ones tend to strip if you hit them with an impact gun. Torque spec on those is only like 65 ft.lb.

the dealer. the problem isnt that they are bad bolts, they just get worn and weak from repeated over tightening. here are the part #'s. you need 2 of each.

^^^ those are the ones that I'm talking about. Do they have after market ones? I'm trying to find a better build than the stock ones.

stock are the only option and will hold up fine. most alignment guys over torque them so they dont slip. just like any other bolt if its over torqued too many times it will break. just buy new oem ones every few alignments.

but they suck, make sure they use plenty of antiseize and a torque wrench on them. Good idea to have some spares on hand anytime you touch these bolts.

+1 for antiseize! My evo is much older than all of yours and my rear stock bolts were rusted to the inner sleve on the bushings in the rear for both camber and toe.
