Sumi's HTR+ and 18-inches
Well it was bound to happen...
18-inches of snow rolled into the great northeast over the weekend. I've had the Sumi's on and waiting for about 5 weeks or so. I did a little test run (after finally removing my splitter for winter). The Sumi's seem pretty good in the snow. I did manage to find some pretty deep snow and a few good hills and the Sumi's were fine. Like any tire they were pretty slippy in the icier stuff especially when stopping. I had a few good ABS tests and did a few power-on drifts just for some fun and the car and tires were both very predictible. As with any high power turbo car you have to be careful on boost especially if you get a little lag in the power.
On an unrelated note the headlight adjustment I just did was a great benefit in snow driving. You can adjust them up for longer visibility and down even further for heavier white-out conditions. I'd recommend that easy change to anyone.
The car is a total Tarmac salt-mobile and it doesn't look pretty today but it did drive by several front-drive cars stuck on my hill. So far the Sumi's and the car age great in the snow.

Well that is comforting as I know it won't be long before the snow hits my area. Luckily I just got the Summitomos on last week. So it got up hills pretty easily?? I live on a pretty steep hill which also happens to be the only way for me to get out of my subdivision.

The GSX is heavier but the Evo feels more nimble...I guess we'll see if that equates to safer in the snow. I had Avid-t4's on mine also. Nice in the snow but they didn't wear so great. I had a 91 Talon TSI awd and a 97 GSX...both a blast in the snow.
