Tire / Wheel Fitment Questions

What is the best offset for a Varrstoen ES220 17x9 wheel to run on an EVO 8 or EVO9? A wheel company online told me I would have to run +12 offset to make it clear the caliper because of the lip wheel design, along with some fender rolling and negative camber but no spacers are required. Does anyone else have a wheel design similar to this and fit with a different offset? Thanks!

I believe the Grids will fit w/out spacer. The +12 is not correct & will not fit the EVO Body
Heres a pic of the Grids & also my ride w/the P45R 17x9.5 +30 running 275/40. Let me know what tire you are thinking of & ill run the no.s for you

Not familiar w/the Varrstoen but have you looked at the Rota Grids, they look very similar. I personally run the Rota P45R which is also similar (5 spoke vs 6)

Thanks for the info... I know that wheel design has a lot more to do with the fitment clearing the calipers and with a "backspacing" of 6 inches or more should clear the calipers. That wheel company told me because of the lip design that it needs a lot less offset than stock (+35) and that the +30 wouldnt work since the spokes are pushed in because of the lip is why they told me to go with +12. They have a few different options for offsets in the 17x9, but I just wish I had the wheels in front of me to measure the backspacing or test fit to see if it clears the brembos...

BTW: The stock offset is +38. If the Varrstoens require spacers, I would rather see you on the ROTAs (same price point & most of their EVO wheels fit w/out spacers)

Certainly dont have any snow tire experience but, that tire is super tall. Over 3" taller than the stock 235/45. 11% Speedo error (7mph slower at 60mph). In an emergency, maybe, but I would run it for any distance

If you bought the car w/the spacers on them, the previous owner may have added them for more wheel poke. Its possible your wheels dont need them but likely they do
Wheels that fit the EVO w/out spacers are not that rare but takes some research to find them

Also, run the stock camber! Camber should not be added during the fitment process
+18 is very tough to fit & I wouldnt recommend this if you are going to track your EVO

Well, they will poke more than 3/4" further than stock. I ran your no.s using a 265/40 tire & this set-up will require the full rear fender treatment (roll, pull, bumper bolt etc). Also, front fender issues likely requiring the fender spacer kit
