I wonder if I could switch from my weird RPF1 18x9.5 +45s to 18x10 +38s.

Right now, on 265s I sometimes (very rarely) rub on the inside in the rear, a 5mm spacer would probably cure it. This only happens during a rare combination of extreme deflection and simultaneous compression (turning hard at the point where a downhill section suddenly dips and comes back up).

Outside rear doesn't rub at all, and I haven't even done the bumper bolt relocation yet.

Do you think I could squeeze 275s in? This seems to suggest I could pull it off:

For sure its possible. Running anything larger than 9.5 moves you into the dark side of wheel fitment on a stock body EVO
Read through this thread which was titled for the 10.5" wide but there is talk of the 10" as well (see post no. 41)
Expect the full fender roll, bumper bolt relocate & a pull

Heres a 18x10 discussion that might work better for you

Spacers are dependent on wheel /spoke design. Without knowing which wheel we cant tell if spacers will be needed (the +22 will certainly help in fitting the wheel w/out spacers)

+22 has been used many times but is a very diff wheel to fit correctly w/out a lot of rear fender work.
The 215 tire is a super stretch & not recommended. The charts show a 245 as being the min on a 9.5" wide wheel

Yes, for sure a rear roll will be needed. +27 is pretty aggressive but the 245 helps in some regard but a nice, tight fender roll will be needed

Ill send our member Letsgetthisdone a message to help you w/your roll question. I think he's from Vegas

I have a friend with a roller and heat gun. We did our 3 Evos. We can do yours, but there is no guarantee on how it will come out. As far as any paint cracking or buckling in the fender. Mine came out just "ok", and the passenger side is way better than the driver since we learned from driver side lol. My friends' 2 X's came out great.

Yes. The +27 puts you in roll territory. I would not cut the fender. Removing the lip takes a lot of strength away from the panel.

Just like Sean noted, cutting the fender is not the best way. Removing that lip can create a wavy fender line
No front fender mod needed. You will likely get some rub at lock positions but thats the norm. Can be treated w/a heat gun

If you go 265 on a +27, you will need more than a roll. You can try a tight roll (full flat) but you will likely need a bit of a rear fender pull =( (the only way to fit the wide rubber on the EVO rear)

Hi,
I got a set of American Racing tires, they are 18x8 with ET40
I'm wondering what is the biggest tire I can put without mods (and what about bending the lip)

Also if anyone recognizes the model (it says AR-896) but searching it does not come with same model (unless only the center is American racing and the wheel is a different brand)

Also, Will this be an improvement over the Evo BBS's?

Would rather see you using the EVO X wheel (18x8.5 +38). But on this wheel 18x8, you can run up to a 245/35 or a 255/35 or go up to a 40 series tire if you like. That +40 is 2mm deeper than the stock wheel so fender rolling will not be needed
I would not call this an improvement as the EVO X wheel is 1/2" wider & 2mm further outboard

Please just don't. Those will definitely not be an improvement over the OEM BBS wheels.

Hi MinusPrevious

I have an Evo 9 with Muellerized Ohlins R&T. My setup is as follows:

Enkei NT03+M 18x9.5 +27
245/35/18 Michelin PSS
10mm spacer F
Rolled fenders F+R, relocated bolt on F
Front Camber: -3 degrees
Rear Camber: -1.8 degrees
Front Toe: 0
Rear Toe: 1/16” In

My dilemma is I want to run a wider 18" tire for Autocross. My rubber is on the narrow side with a little stretch as you probably figured out already. I want to go 275 (Bridgestone RE71R) on a spare set of wheels. I really like the nt03 +27 so I'm contemplating the following but not sure how I stand:

buy a second set of nt03 same diameter, width and offset.
buy another 18x9.5 wheel (te37 replica) that I can get in +22 or +30 offset. (Like the +22 concave look and replicas are a little cheaper on the pocket right now...can't justify $2000+ wheels at the current exchange rate especially!)

I have no issue relocating rear bolt or doing evodave front fender mod BUT I do not want to modify my fender liners or pull the fenders.
