Tire / Wheel Fitment Questions

Ended up solving the problem by cutting off the part of the flap where the wheel was rubbing Downside is that this included trimming the spot where the inner screw would go, however I've had only the 2 outer screws for a while on one side and the flap stays positioned correctly so I'm not too worried about it.

I have racecomp gtworx lowering springs with stock oem bilstein shocks/struts. Will 17x9+35 wheels with 255/40/17 tires, or 18x9+35 wheels with 255/35/18 tires fit without any fender rolling/pulling and not cause any rubbing and clear the front and rear brake calipers? Car is driven daily and maybe to the track once in a while. Trying to find a good wheel and tire setup.

You'd need a bit of a rear fender roll for that I would think. Even on stock 17x8 +38 wheels, my 255's would sometimes rub on the rear fender with multiple passengers and going over certain bumps.
Rear brakes aren't an issue, front brakes will depend on the exact wheel's design. What wheel are you looking at?

Thanks for the reply Raptord! Would a 245 tire instead of 255 clear without any rubbing and not need any fender rolling? I'm interested in a wheel thats lightweight and forged. Not too sure what is out there that looks good and easy to clean so nothing with lots of spokes in the wheel design.

As noted, no easy way to advise on the front caliper clearance. Give us the make / model & offset & we will see if others have used that spec on the EvO

I apologize if I have asked this before, but I am getting a little gun shy.
I have an 2005 EVO 8, looking forward to installing the following wheels.
1st question:
What size tire would you recommend? 255/45/18?
2nd Question:
Any brand or specific tire. It is HOT af where I live and 80-90% humidity.
I have an 2005 EVO 8, looking forward to installing the following wheels.
Rota Grid in Flat Black 18x9.5" 5x114.3 ET20
Note: Fender pulling in the rear, and possible 3-5mm spacer upfront expected. Relocated front bumper fastener ?1st question:

For sure, a rear fender pull, roll & the rear bumper bolt relocation is in order. Regarding tire size, you really need to run a light stretched tire IMO. Certainly not a 45 series. You should stick w/a 35 series based on the +20 offset. You should consider a 245/35 or 255/35
Regarding brand. Ive been running the Federal EvO 595's. Really like the tire for the street. It has a 240 treadwear rating to give you an idea of hardness.
Really would like to see you run a higher offset wheel, but I understand that these low offset wheels look good

What suspension are you running on your Evo?
If you are on Swifts springs (1.4 inch drop Fronts and .8 inch drop Rear) for example, you can get away with just a roll in the rear. The fronts will be fine at that ride height but they require an 8 mm spacer up front so your effective offset will be +16. The rears I had no problem running with just a mild fender roll and -1.5 camber with the car lower than what you would be on Swift springs .. I like using this spring as a "test bench" since it is a nice functional drop. A 255 will give you less hassle so you are smart by choosing it over a 265.
a 255 is a good street tire size. It is a very mild stretch on a 9.5 rim... also a few tires run wider than others so pay attention when choosing a tire brand.
This is a pic of my car with those exact specs on a 265... the car is much lower than it would be if it was on Swift springs which is what I ran prior to getting coilovers.

So the wheels I have narrowed it down to are Volk TE37 17x9+22 and Volk CE28N 17x9+22 and want to run 245/40/17 or 255/40/17 size tires. Will I need to run any spacers to clear the stock front bembro brake calipers for these two types of wheels? And beside rolling the rear fenders, will a rear fender pull be needed to prevent tire rubbing?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Certainly looks like they fit, but its way too close. I think the spec is 3-4mm (.157") of clearance needed
The +22 is super tough to fit but what is helping is the 9" vs 9.5" width. Personally i feel a slight rear pull may be needed & possible rear bumper bolt relocation. You can try it w/a nice tight flat rear roll & see what you think. I would remove the rear strut & disconnect the rear sway bar & check the clearance.

as for the TEs.. I am not sure if they clear the calipers without spacers. Maybe someone that has ran them, will chime in.
