Tire / Wheel Fitment Questions

I too run a +30 wheel in a 9.5" & have another wheel pkg at +29 on a 9". Both give a relatively flush setup. So i would prefer your idea of the 18x9 +30 and as you noted, no spacer is required. You were running that +22 so i would imagine you have had the rears rolled?

Heres your 18x9+30 running the 245/40 vs my setup
The 245 tyre & the 9" wheel certainly help w/the fitment. Hoping the rear roll is all you need? Also, that 40 series tyre certainly adds some circumference but i would have chosen that series as well. 35 is pretty thin for street driving

I am fully cleared running 275's. Have had all the big work done (rear roll, rear fender pull, bumper bolt relocation & some neg camber & a few other minor tricks)
I needed a zero rub situation as i did track the EvO for 5 years

Hey guys. So I am currently on 17x9 +22 with 235/45 and I am looking to move to a more tucked or flush look as I don't like the poke of my current setup.
I have decided I want to go down the 18-inch path. The wheel I am looking at is the Work GT5 which comes in 18X9 +38 or +30. The +38 version will require front spacers for the brakes. I plan to use a 245/40/18 tyre. Will I have any issues with the +30 set up or should I go with a +38 and run a front spacer as required?

205/60R16 to 205/55R16
I recently bought a 2013 Lancer ES and I was hoping to switch out the tire size to 205/55R16. What would be the performance impact to the car? If anyone has a Lancer with 205/55R16 tires could you please attach pictures? I am very new to this so please be nice <3

The 55 series will offer a bit more side wall stiffness depending on the type of tire you buy. Its totally OK to make this change but there will be a slight speedo error as noted in the chart below (your 60 series info is on the left & the 55 series on the right in the chart). There will also be just a bit more fender to tire gap

Only way to know is if someone else has used that wheel or you do a test fit. I searched our forum & could not any info regarding caliper clearance on either the DR's or the CS's.
There is no simple math or other technique that I know of. Its all in the spoke & hub design that dictates caliper clearance
Is there any way of doing a test fit?
The wheel size you noted as 18x9.5 +35 is certainly a good offset for the EvO rear. The 9.5" width is aggressive & will make whatever tire size you run look as wide as possible. A nice 265/35 would be great!
Sorry cant help w/the front spacer question
Any other questions, feel free to ask

hey minus,
so I did some research on the esr cs12’s and it looks like in 18x9.5 +35 seem to fit over sti brembos with a max 5mm spacer. I’m pretty sure our evo 8/9 are the same of very similar to the STI’s especially the 04-07 ones. Do you think I have good odds on making that work?

Yeah, for sure the +35 in the 9.5 is a nice aggressive size but its not on the extreme. The 9.5" gets tough when youre around the +30 to +25 area. Now the front will possibly be +30 w/that 5mm spacer but that offset is totally OK up front. The rears w/the +35 will certainly need a nice tight fender roll & depending on the tire size, maybe some other rear fender work
Let me know what tire size you plan on running & i will do a size overalay & give ya a better idea of how much rear fender work will be needed

help with traction without going to a dedicated drag setup. What would you recommend? 255/40-18? 265/35-18? I’ll be looking for a pretty sticky setup and not too worried about wet performance, but would like to get home if i get caught in a flash storm.

Running the 255 will need the fender roll for sure but you may be OK w/no rear fender pull or the bumper bolt depending on the rear camber settings. I run approx -1.8 degrees in the rear & have zero fender contact through the full stroke of the suspension. The 265/35 will likely require the fender roll & the bumper bolt but you may not need a rear fender pull w/some aggressive rear camber

wheels
The one super nice wheel that comes to mind that is EvO rear fender & front caliper friendly is the 5-Zigen in the +35 offset (17x9 +35). Let me know what you think of these?
There are many others but i dont have a running list of those (probably should have developed a listing). If you search the forum you should find many examples of wheels that work in the rear fender w/out too much work. Once you settle on a wheel & tire i can help w/the fitment details.
@ohhyesevo hi, you look like the guy to refer too for wheels fitments, i have an evo 9 and cant find anything that will fit, can you help me ? tried 4 differents sets so fat, what would be the best size for a lowered evo 9 without fender rolled, can be in 17 or 18, i did a lots of search si far.. thanks

I like your idea of the 255/40 or the 265/35. Heres an overlay comparing the 255/40 vs what i run. Keep in mind my setup (275/40) required all the rear fender mods (roll, pull, bumper bolt, aggressive camber)
Running the 255 will need the fender roll for sure but you may be OK w/no rear fender pull or the bumper bolt depending on the rear camber settings. thanks as always. One other quick question. I have some 18x8.5 SSR type C-RS + 41 for sale near me. Would that offset be a problem?

But, it should work OK but the fronts will likely need a front spacer?
