jbrown,
I am currently running 17x8 RPF1's with 255/40 17 Azenis with a 35mm offset. I am not a fan of how much the tire rolls at autocrosses and track days so I was considering going with a 17x9.5 RPF1 with 38mm offset with the 255's again. First, would I have to be concerned about these wheels fitting over the brakes? Second, would I have to be concerned about rolling the fenders with the same width tires? Thanks a bunch, I will continue searching on my own as well.

IIRC, the RPF1 is a no-go on an Evo in 18x9.5+38, so 17x9.5+38 should be the same deal.
Go here and look at post #20, 31, and 36

If you must have a 9.5" wheel, this is where I would look for the least amount of headache:
The Advan RZ in 17x9.5 +30
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=357522
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=365111
Or the Advan RGII in 17X9.5 +35
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=363529
Or the Weds TC-105N in 17x9.5 +32mm
http://www.weds.co.jp/products/wedssport/tc105n.html
There are plenty of choices at 9" wide, so I won't list them, but almost anything between +32 and +35mm will fit with minimal drama and will work great on a 255 tire. You can push the offset as low as +28 if you really work the rear fenders.
On a side note, the next time you need tires, check out the Yokohama Advan Neova (If 180-treadwear is ok for your class) or Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec if you have to have a 200. Both should substantially outperform your current Azenis RT-615.

Thanks for the quick response. I am planning on going with the Star Specs next time, but I have driven on Star Specs in the past and was not as impressed as everyone else. I happen to really love the Azenis, but I will try the Star Specs and give my impressions of both, it might not be fair with wider wheels. Thanks a lot for all the help.

Ok anothr does it fit question...I havent seen this one yet...Tork matrix...it's my avatar pic...18x9...I tryed +25 but not even close...with approx 25mm in a inch..I still looking for like another 15mm...from what i could tell by a tape...is 40-45 pushing it? i really like these wheels and am trying to find the fitment that will work...clearing those wonderful brembos...And the lip is 3.5, with that large of lip, it limits my offset choices...I mean not sticking out to far....Help would be appricated....

18x9 will work best in a +30 to +35mm offset on stock fenders. I have no idea if those wheels are available in that size. And even if they are, I don't know if they will clear the brembos.
FWIW, 5-spoke wheels look goofy on an Evo, and if you wanted chrome deep dish wheels, why not buy a BMW 540?

Your question is confusing ... are you saying 18x9 +25 didn't stick out enough (because you have a widebody kit?) or that it stuck out too far?

17x9 +35 will look more aggressive than stock. They will stick out about 15mm further.
IMHO, one of the best aggressive looks without a ton of work is a 18x9 or 17x9 +29mm Advan RS. Those will stick out 20mm wider than the stockers and have a sick concave face. You need to roll the rear fenders, but that's about it.
17x9.5 +28 will be a bit of work in the back, but if you can find something in the +35mm range, you might be able to get that to tuck in with just some fender rolling, but you'd have to run a different offset or use spacers up front and I'm not a fan of either of those options.

so here's a question I've been tryin to figure out for the past hour.
18x9.5 Rotas +20 or +30!?!??!
I auto-x and plan on tracking so no tire stretching for me, not much atleast.
however I am willing to mod my fenders to fit the fattest tires I can
Lemme know your guy's thoughts! thanks

Front:
+30's will probably rub the suspension up front, but it will be close. Might get away with about a 5-6mm spacer. You'll probably need wider fenders as well, especially if the spacers are required. I strongly recommend extended studs if you run a spacer.
+20's will clear the suspension for sure, but definitely not the fenders.
Rear:
+30's will clear the suspension, but you'll have to roll the hell out of your fenders and it might barely fit.
+20's will clear the suspension as well, but there's no way you can make them clear the fenders. Voltex widebody and a sawzall or plasma cutter will be necessary.
If you run wider than 265 tires, it will probably rub everywhere no matter what unless you use a hammer and some custom fenderwell liners.

I recommend a 255/35/18 for a 18x9 wheel. The Toyo R888 is great in that size if you can use it in your class. Otherwise check out the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R or Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec if you have to be over a certain treadwear.
265/35 will fit but it is slightly taller than stock, so it will rub the front fender liner when turning.

You have to go to a 285 before you'll find a 30-series tire and that ain't gonna work on a 9" wide wheel, you need to be in the 10-11" wide range.
No offense, but driving school will make you much faster than 10mm of rubber ever will.
