I didn't sift through all of the info on this thread, but the Enkei OR52 will fit perfectly with plenty of clearance for the Brembo's. I just started sporting them on my Evo in a size 18X8.5 with a 35mm offset. As stated earlier, the required bolt pattern is 5X114.3. These particular wheels come with a combination drill size of 5X114.3 and 5X120. Look under my profile for pics or check out the OR52 thread for more info!

Rallycross setup???

Anyone have experience with a rallycross setup? I'm looking to actually drop from the 17" stock wheels on my EVO 8 MR to at least 16" and maybe 15" if possible/recommended. I'm hearing that 15" may work if the front disc size is reduced with the rear already OK. With that I suspect I will just go with a 16" setup. Any thoughts on either setup?

I don't want to sound ignorant or question your decision, but I have to admit that I don't completely understand why you would want to go with a smaller wheel, especially down to a 15". Unless you plan on actually running the car in rallycross competition, I think it will probably look cheap and you may regret it. If I saw that and didn't understand what you were going for, I may just think that you wanted to change the wheels but took the cheapest route possible. I'm not trashing on you at all, so please don't take it that way. Depending on the size, the 16" MAY clear the Brembo's, but it will be almost impossible to find a 16" wheel with a large enough offset. Absolutely avoid the use of spacers at all costs. There is too great of a risk with those, especially for rallycross competition. I can almost guarantee that you will not find a 15" wheel with a large enough offset. The diameter alone is likely not great enough to clear the front calliper circumfrentially. I've done a lot of research and it was hard enough for me to find an 18" wheel with a wide enough offset. That's not to say it isn't possible. Good luck!

Rallycross

Thanks for the feedback SilverStreak. I hear what you're saying, and just to confirm rallycross competition is exactly why I want to downsize. Of course I would still keep the stock wheels and tires for daily driving and drifting in the summer time. I'm also glad to hear your thoughts on spacers, so I won't force the issue and will stick with trying to find a 16" wheel that works. In general I'm really surprised that it is so difficult to find different combinations that work, but if anyone hears/knows anything about the setup that is used by Mitsubishi in the WRC please let me know. I presume they run 16". Even Neal at the Tire Rack has confirmed that anything less than stock is folklore or modification. Maybe the Tire Rack will start selling a rally cross setup with a big disclaimer that let's people know the specific modifications that are required to make it work since most rally enthusiasts own multiple tire & wheel setups. That'd be two sales for every one, i.e. $$$$$

Probably not. None of the Borbet wheels we carry will work on the EVO

They use smaller than 17" on the WRC/Group N/etc cars, but they normally use smaller brakes made by companies like AP/Alcon. For your needs, you can swap out the Brembos to GSX brakes and use smaller wheels, but that would be a major PITA swapping back and forth. Unless you are really competing for points, I would say get a skinnier 17" rim if it will fit, or even just stock rims, and run someting like 225/45/17 or 215/50/17 snow/all-season tires for grip in the dirt.

That is HOTT. I cant decide b/w the Typhoons or the FN's.

Can anyone confirm or deny the fitment of an Enkei RPF-1 17x8.5 +40 on the EVO. Vendors seem to be split about 50/50 on this application.

Thanks to some great service from Gruppe-s these wheels arrived yesterday. Fitment definately confirmed. A +40 wheel might be the answer if you are haveing rubbing problems with a 245/45 tire. Lots of room between the fender and wheel. I'm going to be scrubbing in 255/40 RA-1's over the next couple of days and will report any unexpected problems.

BTW, these wheels look much better in person compaired to all the pictures I've seen. Very aggresive looking, and don't let the price fool you. This wheel is on par with every other high dollar one piece wheel I've ever seen.

What about the Enkei RS-7's? There are three fitments for 18x7.5
1. 5x112/114.3 with a 35 offset
2. 5x100/114.3 also with a 35 offset
3. 5x100/114.3 45 offset

I believe I should go with #3, but I have been told that I will need longer studs and spacers. I've also been told that they will fit just fine. Anyone out there have these rims that can confirm fitment? Also, what size tires would be best? Thanks in advanced!!!!
