HSD coilovers

Much better! Sounds like they're willing to change some specs when shown some real numbers. Thats promising

Yup that was what I thought when replied with those specs. The interesting bit after reading on them HSD coilovers, even on other car forums, that they never had a failure. They are really robust and can take any punishment, and now with new found spring rates for the Evo it much more tempting.
I actually pulled the trigger one the kit and its being built as the moment

I run HSD suspension on my X at the track (TA/lapping) and they do a pretty darn good job.
I'm sure a 3000 dollar set up would do a bit better (and it certainly should be) but for an entry level coilover they are up to par without a doubt. I'm happy with my HSD's and never had any problems with them throughout a full racing season

I still want to see a dyno plot. The only information ive been able to find is theyre way over damped at the lowest settings and only go up from there. Are they rebound adjustable only? Crosstalk.. etc.
At this price, something around koni yellow quality would be great. They arent perfect, but wear like iron and have respectable valving.

Another good review / video found. Sigh... its for BMW. but its a pretty good write up. This one is worth mentioned since he attached a 9 minute video. He tended to like the HSD's compared to the KW3's . Not more or less but thought it was a worthy comparison when you factor in all the features and cost.

Its just another review, and doesn't have any technical data, but still its a pretty genuine feedback.

This is why very early in this thread I referred people to reviews from EVO folk in the UK on the www.lancerregister.com forum. (post 15)
I personally havent had a lot of seat time in an EVO 8 / 9 here in Canada. But in my travels to California I have gotten a few track days with an Evo 8. But those I have spoken to who own this platform and HSD's tend to be pleased with it.
Getting back to my old post. I have spent a great deal of time on the UK forum asking those who own this car + HSD's what they think. The consistent theme is that they perform well on the street, on the track, and they are surprisingly durable. While the point has been raised before, this is all subjective .... etc etc... The fact that everyone is saying the same thing tells me the coilover stands out.
Not saying the coilover is perfect. Its not. No coilover is perfect. Everyone's tastes and demands are different. But HSD has done a pretty good job at making a solid entry level Inverted Monotube coilover. There are plenty of worthy coilovers brands out there. No doubt. Factory Bilstein struts, no doubt there either. If you dont have the urge to drop the car, I would say keep it as is. But what is typically the case up here in Canada.
The typical Canadian I know sounds something like this. (not always the case, but you can see where I am going with this.
*Lower the car
*Take it to the track or Auto X now and then
*Drive it during winter.
HSD's are durable and perform well.

Had coilovers
Had the hsd monopros on my 7gta with light mods and they were great. Could not fault them. Was only used for street use and the occasional mountain run but was extremely happy with how they went. Actually thinking about getting them for my Evo X.
Just make sure to get them set up properly. My tuner Nick at NA autosport here in Australia is an Evo guru so he knew what he was working with.
I would recommend the hsd monopro if you want a descent quality product without costing you an arm and a leg. 😁👍🏽
P.s sorry just realised how old this thread is.
