Has anyone tried these tires out for Auto-x specifically?

I'm really split between trying these Federals out, since they are DIRT cheap (Under $100 for either the 235/45/17 or 255/40/17) or the Hankook RS-3's.

I've previously used the Dunlop Star Specs, Nitto NT-05's, Advan A032R (rcomp) and Hankook Z214.


Again, I'm looking for people who've used these for autox/street. Any info would be appreciated since spring is just around the corner!

ehh for the price it's ok... I use to have RSR. Did it's job... it was cheap I bought it cause i was a broke a$$ that time. Although I never tried RS-3s though.. so can't really tell which is better. Sorry.. im useless.. I'll go away now.

This year, I have a job that is half the distance of what I had to travel on the NT05's and Star Specs, so I'd have to guess I'd only be putting on somewhere in the realm of 7-9k during the spring/summer/fall on these tires. However, I may be putting in a few more autox's than previous years too...

My home lot that I autox at has some of the roughest, most abrasive surface that I've autox'd on. There are guys that go through almost 2 full sets of NEW A6's in one season, and we only get 8-10 events at this lot here normally.

Two set of A6's seems to be the norm if you want to be at the top of pax. I havent run them.

The few I've talked to that run the RS3s seem to like them. They might be driving a lighter car though. It would nice to hear from someone whos ran the StarSpec and the RS3 back to back. There's just no info on the Federal.

i remember reading a post someone made where they contacted Federal and said that there were none of these tires in circulation here in the USA right now. Something along those lines. It'll be tough.

I found 6 of them in a 255/40/17, well that was after I had got my direzza's the guy called me back, they go quick.

Actually designed for AutoX? Check your local club forums and the guys in the street tire classes. Also check out who drove on what last year at the nationals in the street tire classes (results can be found on SCCA's solo site).

I agree on the noob thing, they made in Taiwan not China.

I have a set in 235-45-17. I only used them for street unfortunately. I got them used with camber wear on them, and they rode smooth and very quite. I now have about 8k miles on them and they are a little loud and ride a bit rough with tire pressure. I did do one half paced canyon run with them and they were good. Braking was great and roll over was non existent. As they start breaking away they are quite. I hope to get 15k miles out of them with not to many canyon runs and a -2 f -1r Camber and 0 toe alignment.
