Possible new option for a trunk cage for 8/9 owners

We all know gt-pec sells a trunk cage which is somewhat expensive. I have been looking into make a more rigid version without joints like the gt-spec. I stumbled across one on ebay, but it claims to be for an Evo VII only.

Ebay item# 150551155397 or search for MITSUBISHI EVO 7 ULTRA RACING 4 POINTS REAR STRUT BAR

I don't think the VII and VIII trunk interiors are different and the 8/9 GSR and MR models have the same mounting holes for the RS trunk bar.

Can anyone think of a reason why this would not fit USDM Evo 8/9's? Its cheaper by a lot and seems like these guys actually test their products and post all sorts of technical information/pics about their products.

Any input appreciated!

good luck getting tha UR cage on time. There is a reason why they are cheap look at the city the company is at?? They are in Asia i think. Last time i ordered a $5 ipod radio transmitter from China it took 2.5 months to receive it, and i had to send so many emails to the sender. I think they ship everything by container boat, thats why the shipping is usually free or really cheap. In other words my advice is stay away from parts sold from Asian countries. I know others that had bad experience with buying from Asian countries.

UR has a branch in USA and Canada as well. I have bought JDM hoods and bumpers for other vehicles from Malaysia and they had got here in 14 days or less. So, some sellers are irresponsible, not all.

Show me something they sell that shows the country usa or canada?? If you got urs in 14 days then thats pretty good but i have heard/experinced differently. The sellers i have bought from were top rated sellers sooo cant tell you how irresponsible they are.

UR Products

I have the lower front brace and the upper rear strut brace. I ordered mine from ebay. Shipping stated 5 weeks but I got it in 3 days. I received this stuff faster than the rs trunk bar that I ordered locally.

^^^ Thanks for feedback. I ordered it yesterday. We shall see how soon I get it. Also, I emailed ultraracingusa.com and they said they can get them as well. But, it costs a lot more than ebay.

Here's a listing for their rear strut bar for the CT9A. The listing contains a pretty good write up regarding their tests and such. How much engineering/scientific merit does it carry, who knows. But it's there.

Well, I ordered it February 16th and it was here today. Not bad considering it came from Malaysia, had to clear customs and then get shipped to me. This is faster than stuff I have ordered from evom vendors.

How it was shipped. Who needs big boxes anyways

Unwrapped for the most part:

Not bad at all considering it shipped from halfway around the world. I am pretty surprised they shipped it that way, though. I guess that's nothing a little sanding and paint can't fix.

Where are you located? Also, can you comment on the construction of the bar?

Post installed pics ASAP!!!
